I would agree with FJ40jim.
His assessment makes the most sense, and I would agree that a replacement 2F is your best bet going forward.
I've heard that custom head gaskets can be made with extra thickness to compensate for the decked block/milled head issue but thats not the best solution for...
X2 on the shroud. I had a similar issure w/ my TBISB and went to a bigger oil pan (6qt.) and it really helped, but I dont know LSs, so it might not be an option for you.
So I was retorqueing the wheel bearings in my 60 and I came across something interesting.
While chatting with Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters he mentioned the torque values being 6-12lbs (rolling friction + 6-12lbs).
In my 1984 FSM it states 0.9 - 7.3 for the the same thing (page FA-15). I called him...
I hooked it up to the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid of the Chevy Starter.
I'm not sure if that helps or not, but thats what i did.
Thanks again for helping!
Tried it w/o wire...no dice, hooked it up and it ran!
So I must have been really tired when I hooked up the solenoid. I thought I had 2 + wires (batt and painless harness) and 2 more on the "S" terminal of the chevy solenoid. 1 B/W and one from the painless harness. Pulled it back apart and...
Haaa, thats funny! I was thinking the same thing, I'll leave it unattached. If the car starts fine then I'll check it for voltage, then also check the 4WD indicator to see if it still lights up. I agree, it seems to be set up a s a ground.
Maybe someone else will chime in and post up the answer...
Its not the painless starter trigger wire. I have the stock Toyota starter wire (black with a white stripe) and the painlees harness one installed onto the solenoid.
The ring terminal and splice definitely aren't OEM, but the original wire that comes off the tranny/tcase harness is black with...
No it's not that one...this one is on the passenger side towards the firewall.
Here is a better pic. The harness for the tranny and TCase has 2 white plugs. This wire comes out of the harness before the first (towards the front) plug.
Yes,
You are correct, there is a W/B wire that goes to the starter. This one is a slightly larger gauge and comes off that Tranny TCase harness.
The factory manual shows a B/W wire for the 4WD, but I cant see it showing going to ground.
Hi Everyone,
I'm putting everything back together after a clutch job in my 60 (w/a SBC).
There is a black wire /w white stripe (see pic) coming off the harness that goes to the transfer case and back to the tranny and I cant remember where it goes.
It's all black where it comes to the ring...
Thanks for the info guys!!
I'll try to shorten the rod first and see if that works, then go to a manual adjustment set up if I need to.
Elbert, do you periodically check the clutch fork and pushrod for freeplay?
I was wondering if the self adjusting slave cylinder you have always pushes the rod...
So, I've done a V8 conversion in an 86 60 using the Mark's adapter and I'm thinking going to a manual adjusted slave cylinder for the clutch. Should I do that?
The post 1985 60s have an automatic slave cylinder, but I was wondering if anyone has experience in modifying it to manual. I know I...
