I have an amazing degreaser I got an local auto parts store. Bare metal is so much nicer to work on.
Spray on, soak for 10 min, rinse. Ubolt flip kit is a convenient work around for sure. Better end result.
Cut those center pipe posts in that lifted rear shackle, that's hard on springs and destroys flexibility.
Conferr started selling those way back when. I just zip disked mine but It's a personal opinion based on
my experience and observation. The anti-inversion shackles are different by design...
That is easily repairable if you just want to get it running. Got find a piece of steel, reshape and weld.
The welding alone will harden it up well enough.
As above, just be nice to the U bolts. They really aren't going anywhere once bolted on, HULK torques not required.
Is that how...
So everyone told me about the power of the 5.7 but to be honest I thought, Meh?!
I was so f'n wrong!! Screw zero to 60 times, try zero to 90! I actually saw my buddies head flip back when he didn't expect
me to hammer it pulling onto the highway.
But back to sanity the initial climb up the...
Got an upgrade to winter fleet. Love the 4.7 LB but not being 4WD last winter frustrated me big time. So been looking.
Missed out on a cherry mint 2009 Tundra RCSB by about 2 hrs. Then found this one in Burnaby. It’s been to a few battles,
so cosmetic damage aside it’s fairly solid. Bigger...
I’d keep that VW intact. VirtuallyWorthless but phenomenal fuel economy and actually really good road trip car. Ya got a nice fleet going there. I was 2 hrs too late on a mint 2009 Tundra RCSB. Was looking just missed the timing.
Hey Gary, should be no problem using any gears or shafts from other transfer case. Just has to be manual transmission case. Auto cases have a different gear ratio and I’m not sure where that occurs.
You got a full new bearing and seal kit?
If you do need parts not in kit let me know I might...
Thanks for the warning about the discs. My welder suggested cut off saw, but that's just a giant disc. I was thinking
7 1/4" saw, got a 40 tooth blade. I might just try it, blade depth control and angle/directional control being the reason.
My concern is hardness of the extruded aluminum...
I was thinking of using it to trim the extruded aluminum roof bars. But I’ve come to realize the saw blade will just slag and clog on aluminum. I’ll be using a Walter thin disc.
Selective enforcement. If it's insured with BC plate it has to have compliance. I see too many newer cars almost
to limo tint stage. Big pick ups, high end cars are worst offenders. I'm battling selective enforcement at my neighbourhood
right now over a different issue.
I've seen literally hundreds of cars in the last year with everything from light tint to almost blacked out on front
windows. I'm considering ceramic tint for UV protection on whole front of my 60.
