Well it is time to sell my Fj40 as we just don't get it out and use it anymore. We had a lot of fun with it years ago while at Cruise Moab events. Most all of the work that is referenced below was done by Jereimiah back in the days of Proffitts Cruisers now known as Proffitts Resurrection Land...
Hey guys, I'm reaching out for your thoughts and also to vent a little.
Last summer I purchased a '96 80 that was in great condition (so it seemed). Low miles 140,000, turbo kit, bumpers, etc all work done by Slee Offroad. Paid top dollar for a rig that I thought was going to last a long time...
Haven't used the Hobart 187, I am looking at the Lincoln 180C on ebay for $712 w/free shipping. What do you guys think, is this machine worth an extra $100.
Figure it out. Yep, Howell made a little mistake when they wired the IAC part of the harness, they switched two of the wires. Switched them to the right spot and poof perfect idle. Thanks for the help anyway. Good luck with your rig.
They told me that sometimes they make a mistake and mix up some of the individual wires when they put the harness together. So I need to check the colors on the IAC wires.
Thanks Scott, I'll give it a try this evening. Just got off the phone with Howell again, they said that it is a possibility that the some of the wires on the harness may have been put together wrong. I can't wait to get home from work and fix this thing.
After checking, it doesn't seem to have a TPS. I can't find anything located around the throttle area. I am gettng some blinking when I ground my diagnostic circuit but I can't seem to figure out what it meens in the Howell service manual.
I got my '90 TBI put in this weekend (thanks to Proffitt) all seems ok when driving except the idle is very high. I've checked for vacum leaks with some carb cleaner can't seem to find any. Called Howell (i used their harness) they said to drive it for 50 miles to let the computer figure things...
