I understand the PTO speed is dependent on the transmission gear but there is a gear ratio between the transmission and the PTO, does anyone know what that is?
Thank you for the link. It helped a little bit. Everyone keeps mentioning winches. I didnt say anything about winches. LOL. I already have an electric winch and dont plan on getting a PTO winch. I have other plans for the auxiliary power of a PTO but I do have another question....does the...
Please forgive the ignorance but Im trying to wrap my head around this. Ive had my FJ40 for over 5 years now, I tore it apart soon after I got it and I havent touched it since then. Its even been a few years since Ive been on this site so Im kind of out of the loop.
I dont have a PTO on my FJ40...
Why not a snow blower? I searched Google images for an FJ with a PTO snow blower thinking someone must have done it before. I'm sure its been thought of. How come no one pulled it off? There must be a reason it wont work. Thoughts?
I probably won't end up going with a wood bed. I think they do look sharp in old pickups. Then again, old pickup beds are flat. It would be kinda tricky to pull it off in an FJ with the mid bed being lower than the rear bed. I'd just like to see it if it has ever been done.
My 'Cruisers floor is severely rusted. I don't really want to spend the money on a factory replacement, they're pretty proud of 'em. My original thought was to cut down a pickup bed floor to replace it. The thought also crossed my mind about doing a wood floor. Has anyone attempted this? Any...
My experience with is exhaust is the weld is the first place it will fail. The pipe is galvanized the weld is not. Use clamps wherever possible. If you have to weld it, grind the galvanizing off first where the weld is to be, tack it, remove it, weld it, and paint the welded area. You could weld...
Three words..."favor the thicker" set the machine for 1/4" and run your bead on the thicker of the two metals JUST catching the edge of the thinner material.
"The only thing better than restoring a factory Land Cruiser is restoring a Land Cruiser better than the factory. Restomod on!"
Im replacing the factory heater box and blower motor in my 'Cruiser with a newer "under the passenger dash" style with A/C. I checked out a Vintage Air kit and Oh crap! I forgot, I'm not rich! So I think I'll pick one up at the local bone yard instead. I'm putting an LT1 under the hood, so the...
Yeah that sounds good. Alot of people will argue that 45° is optimal but that limits suspension compression. I plan on setting mine around 10°. As long as they're past center you probably aren't going to notice a difference in ride comfort between 25° & 10°. You MIGHT notice a LITTLE softer ride...

As do I, I have the entire plow system, dash controls, under carriage, bumper mount with cylinder and lights, blade, etc. The PO took the blade off and adapted it to fit a 3-point tractor hitch but it can be fixed. I just sold my dash pad set but I do have a factory radio mount that sits under...

This one is off of a 1970 FJ40 F-155. No cracks or broken ears. No broken bolts in any of the holes. Has vaccum hose attached. Overall condition is great. Asking $80.

I live in Michigan. Been here all my life. I know all about condensation and I half contemplated using the roll cage as a mega heat duct with small louvers at every window to defrost and decondensate the glass. I wouldn't use the entire cage but if I make the upper perimeter all one piece it...
I'm sure there are alot of aftermarket wiper kits for alot of different rear windows and even though I am building a restomod I think it would be cool to have the same wiper and motor in the rear as I do in the front. Keep it all Toyota. That way it looks like it belongs there.

Cool! Thanks for the link. I was thinking I would put it on the top of the window rather than below it. Thought it might get in the way of the handle if in was on the bottom.

Good enough for me. Now does anyone have an extra wiper arm and motor from the earlier models with the interior overhead motor. Pre '74ish I think. Lol. Just kidding. I'm MONTHS from doing anything with the body. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, but I will definately keep it in my...
