I wouldn't let the headgasket issue on the 3vze scare you away. I've done two now and if the headgasket is properly fixed, you're looking at the motor going another 200-300k before it pops again.
In regards to the landcruiser vs pickup? It's clear that the pickup is going to be a bit more...
Well, that's the thing. I know California used to acknowledge "federal" vehicles and I THINK smog stations held them to a different standard but I don't know. Like I said, I have a federal 4Runner but it was registered here in California way before a "serial number", "stamp", or "CARB numbers"...
You keep your non-CARB compliant Landcruiser off our streets, California is a saint! - That's all the Step Brother's reference you're getting from me.
In other words? You live in Oregon, the catalytic converter was stolen in Oregon, I'd say you're getting an Oregon compliant catalytic...
11-16-21 - Mumford Bar Camping Trip
We ended up going camping at Mumford Bar after scouting it out the weekend before. I couldn't sleep at night during the week knowing that we went up there and didn't stay the night. We drove up there late on a Friday night and stayed through Sunday...
11-9-21 - Couple Updates, Trip up to Foresthill
Been awhile since I've posted. My right eye flared up again and I've just been dealing with trying to get that back to a state of normality. It sucks, but hey... I try to get by each and every day with no depth perception and 50% blindness.
The...
The 3VZ-E isn't bad but it's very finicky. My suggestion? Don't mod it. Keep it running and up-to-date on maintenance and it'll treat you right. My 88 4Runner has 250k miles on it and I did the first headgasket on it at 200k. Problem free since other than failing California smog. It's always...
We have so many of these fly-by dealerships in Sacramento. Between Riverside going into Roseville and the entire length of Fulton in Sacramento, it's kind of ridiculous.
Everything they sell is just overpriced, out of state, auction vehicles.
The best 3vze truck i've ever owned has been the 88. I had to do the headgasket back at 198k miles but it's at 250k now and hasn't needed anything mechanically besides oil changes and spark plugs. I actually just wrapped up doing a timing belt job on it because the timing jumped. It still ran...
Yes sir! She's a 3vze w/ a 85 front axle. This motor has been amazing.
I have a hitch lock and bike lock for it, so far. Not sure whatcha mean when referring to the hitch bolt? It slides into the hitch and locks. I didn't bother using the 1UP lock that they sent with the rack, i had my own.
Finally got my 1UPUSA bike rack and all I can say is if you don't have one of these racks and you own a bike, you need to get your life together... Hands down the best rack i've ever used and it came highly recommended by everyone on this forum:
8-2-21 - 1UPUSA Bike Rack, New Alternator, New Wheel Bearings & New Bike Shakedown:
What a weekend...
Starting on Friday, I was headed to work in the Jeep and I made it about 4-5 miles from the house before the entire dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I looked down at the Scangauge II and...
After 4 months of waiting, I finally have it, boyos!
I went with black stamp 7 Crankbrother pedals, crank arm guards, chain bash guard and a full Ride Wrap kit. Beyond ready to hit the trails.
7-23-21 - Moar Updates - Completely out of order, timeline wise.
1) So the 4Runner now has a new timing belt, water pump, PCV, drive belts, fan clutch, radiator... yada yada and she passed smog! Surreal moment for me since this truck is always a huge pain in the ass when it comes to getting it...
6-25-21 - Update
1) Minor set back, the 4Runner's harmonic balancer is spun so I ordered a new one and i'm just waiting for that to come in. The "new" one is used w/ 160k confirmed miles. I'll just clean it up, install it and hopefully I can get the truck back together / running by next weekend.
6-21-22 - Update
1) I sold the Mazdaspeed 3 for a price I couldn't refuse. I also sold the easily removable parts and made a pretty good chunk of change from that sale
2) Finally got around to tearing into the 4Runner. Long story short, the timing jumped 2 teeth. Not really sure how this...
Well that's good to know that the Trance X 29 2 is a good all around bike because that's exactly what i'm buying it for. The geometry is a little scary because I have yet to even sit on the bike but i'm coming from a Giant Fathom 2 hardtail so i'm hoping that it's gonna be close to the same feel...
