Bonnet latch holes on the original fj43

Hi everyone, I am rebuilding my FJ43 and wanted to know at what dimensions the bonnet latches - holes should be drilled. If someone could help me with the dimensions that would be great. Thanks.

Using a diesel sub tank for petrol lc 200

Hi, Has anyone used the diesel landcruiser 105 sub tank on a petrol landcruiser 200 as an auxillary fuel tank. Certain questions being: 1. Would it be safe - using a diesel tank to carry gasoline. 2. Assume that I could switch between the sub and the main tank - I would add the factory...

Finally found my FJ43 in Kenya

The guy whom I bought the car from said it will work. I believe he wanted to just make sure the car ran... so he could get paid by me. I believe I will need to change it... as it will strangle the engine.

Finally found my FJ43 in Kenya

Hi guys (and girls), After my initial post in March 2011, I finally found an FJ43 here in Nairobi, Kenya. These are super rare and I haven't seen more than 3 of these in my time here. This is a 1977 model, with a 2F engine and 4 speed gearbox. The car needs quite a lot of work to be done...

Engine has a thumping sound when the engine breathers are connected

It's actually something to do with the EGR. I blocked off the EGR and the sound has gone. What I realised is that the EGR works in the first few minutes after the car is started up and recycles the exhaust gases back into the engine for a re-burn. Once these few minutes are over the sound...

Engine has a thumping sound when the engine breathers are connected

Hi folks, I need some help in figuring out why my engine makes a thumping sound when the EGR breather tube is connected. The moment I remove the breather tube, the sound disappears. It seems to happen when the engine is cold. What could be the reason?

Smoke coming out of Dipstick on 100 Series Diesel with 267,000 km

Thank you Rock40. My local mechanic has said the same thing. He is saying that as far as he's concerned it's not burning oil... which puts my mind at peace. The turbo has quite a hiss / whistle and I haven't seen that with the other 100's I have driven...so not sure what that is.

Smoke coming out of Dipstick on 100 Series Diesel with 267,000 km

Hi Everyone, I'm in the process of buying a Landcruiser 100 series, diesel with the 4 speed auto gearbox and 1HDFTE engine. It has done 267,000 kms and the owner says that Toyota has been servicing the car for the majority of it's life. The possibility of this car having done even higher...

land cruiser 1hz engine will not start when warm/hot.

Hi - I had the same problem on mine and my mechanic said I have a worn Rotor. Upon changing the Rotor, mine started fine when warm. One thing they did was when it was warm and not starting, they used to pour cold water either on the injection pump or starter and then see if it starts ... but...

LC 80 with 1HDT Auto Gearbox Question

An Update: I have now checked the diagnostics code using the pin and have come up with 4 1. This shows severed throttle position sensor or short circuit - severed wire harness or short circuit. The TPS is measuring at 4v instead of 6v... so i assume my TPS sensor is spoilt. We've looked at...
