    fj60 body mounts

I haven't actually gotten around to doing this yet, but that was my plan. Where'd you pick up the rollers from?

Finally broke down and bought a 60

I've driven Bonnie to work a couple times now--so far so good. The first trip involved a lot of hesitating and backfiring when trying to get moving, but once I was going more than about 5mph everything was fine. It wasn't until I was headed home that I began to wonder if I'd set the timing...

It's alive! Finished up everything necessary to get this thing running again. Warmed it up enough to open the thermostat but it never seemed to burp. I may try again tomorrow without the fan on it so it will heat up faster. I set the timing and adjusted the valves too. Engine's quiet enough...

This was up in the Huachuca Mountains headed toward Blacktail Spring on the backside of Fort Huachuca near Sierra Vista. Just have to be able to access the post. I can get more detailed directions if I can find the GPS coords for the spot, but as near as I can tell on google maps, the link below...

Almost. Waiting for UPS to deliver oil tomorrow since the parts stores didn't have any with enough zinc for my old flat tappets and the good stuff from Summit was cheaper than the cheap stuff plus a zinc additive locally. I couldn't find the right fluid for the power steering around here...

    Exhaust leak fj60

EGR flange where it comes off the exhaust manifold is one of the most common places for exhaust leaks. Kinda a pain to get to from up top, but not too bad from underneath.

Got the PS pump installed yesterday, and then most of the emissions crap. The pump seems pretty solid, and the belt looks like it should line up well (bracket looks less bad in black too). I spent an hour looking through my disassembly pictures to figure out how to hook all the vacuum spaghetti...

Finally broke down and bought a 60

The last couple days were productive. If everything works out as planned tomorrow, I should be able to back Bonnie out of the garage for the first time in just about 11 months--ridiculous. Yesterday, I pulled the smog stuff and the driver inner fender back off to get to the steering box. I...

Finally broke down and bought a 60

Today yesterday was more of a morale victory than anything. I got the core support, both inner fenders, and the right fender back on, re-plumbed most of the A/C, and most of the smog pump hose mess reinstalled. Getting that much of the sheet metal back on makes it look (and feel) like this...

I'm not really a big fan of yellow either, but once I started, I can't seem to stop. My wife and I were joking the other day that between all the yellow under the hood, and the red body, I should have named it Ronnie instead of Bonnie. Just needs clown shoes.

Dontcha'll just love the way the yellow makes the anodized fittings pop?! Yellow steering box with blue fittings is definitely high on the tacky scale. I like it! I also got my new vacuum and mechanical temp gauges as installed as I could. I expected to be able to just stick a vacuum line on...

    Steering Box Adjustment Screw Stuck

Have you tried double nutting it like you would to install/remove a stud?

I have issues with patience. Ended up painting it tonight.

Forgot the janky picture, too lazy to edit. To clarify what I did with the wrench and weight, I let gravity pull the weight with the wrench horizontal. When it just started to move, it should have been at the calculated torque value. I originally thought about using the lightest weight I could...

Steering box resealed and put back together. I only had to assemble it twice, and only chased one ball bearing across the garage floor. Couple coats of paint tomorrow, swap out the fittings and it's good to go back in. Finally. I thought it was odd that one of the o-rings was missing from the...

Should have mentioned that the fittings for the steering box did show up today. Spose that's a kind of progress?

No progress in the garage today. Went toy shopping instead. I got a lathe, I got a lathe, I got a lathe! Maybe Christmas really does last all year?

Timing cover's on with a thin coat of RTV between the bottom four bolts. Hopefully the bolts stay torqued, and no massive leaks this time around. I was able to successfully install the remanufactured smog pump I bought about four years ago when the original one went out. I'd forgotten...
