Island,
How did you do on price, roughly speaking, on the LX570? I'm in the same situation comparing new LC vs LX and will be buying one or the other shortly. Are you happy with the LX after several months?
Actually, I just read the thread detailing your search. Any updates on how you like...
I just changed out the fluid in my '06 LC.
I suggest strongly that you get two cans of the AHC fluid, which you can buy online for about $30 plus shipping. My local quotes in the northeast from dealers were about $63 per can......if they happened to have it. It appears very few Toyota...
I'll update this thread a bit. I just changed the pads on my one owner '06. It has 57.5K on the odometer. The rear pads were actually fine. They had about 50% of the pad still intact. For those who doubt the eyeballing estimates, I held up the new one to the old one and can tell you it was...
Thanks.
After I posted, I realized I have the FSM's, but don't usually remember since there hasn't been any real work to do so far at only 56K.
Checking the "Charging system" section, they have some procedures to follow, but none involves the OBD system.
I think the charging system is...
In December, my OEM battery died after 3 3/4 year, so I jumped started it and headed to the local dealer where I bought a Toyota true start replacement and dropped it in myself.
Two weeks ago, after a bitterly cold night(temperature in teens), and not having driven for two days, I got...
If its any consolation, you can probably sell a blown up print of that for $1000 at some modern art gallery.
Care to enlighten us uninitiated on what that is? I'm assuming its multilated metal in a transmission pan, but ready to be corrected.
Seems like the moral of the story adds to what my uncle told me years ago when I asked why he didn't downshift (manual '64 mustang) going downhills. "Brakes are a lot cheaper than transmissions."
Having said that, you'd think there would be warning about this. Most likely to disable your...
I just did this recently. I had the same issue as Dan, with the port coming loose before the fitting. After that, I wasn't able to get a wrench on to hold it while I worked at the fitting. My solution to that was to simply remove the whole shebang....high pressure hose and all, and then get...
I recently replaced all the belts for the second time, with OEM, and replaced both idler pulleys.
The engine sounded a lot better at idle. Now you can hear the valves tapping instead of that light squeaking from the pulley. ;)
Good luck.
Back in 1963 when I was 13 I got my novice license and then my general a couple of months later. Had to go the to the FCC office for that one.
I learned a lot from having that license and hobby. I hope you will too. Always be safe. The radio voltages are a lot less lethal these...
I'm installling new idlers and have never seen anyone talk about grease or other lube in the bearings.
I'm all ears. Obviously there would be belt slippage issues if it could not be contained to the bearings.
Yes, I now see with your help that it is the crankshaft position sensor, and on my EPC it does not show a gasket or O ring separately that I see. Looks like the CPS itself costs about $100 with the discount.
I also see that there is what appears to be a "Plug" that screws into the oil pan from...
I am doing some PM before my son takes possession of the 80 permanently, and I have some leaks I'm dealing with. One appears to be probably the oil pump seal and I've read the posts about how to handle that.
But just beneath that area, on the bottom of the engine, is a small bracket/shield...
most of the aftermarket parts question boils down to one of my favorite sayings.
"Why pay full price for something that works reliably and perfectly well, when for 70-80% of that , we can get something that will be completely inferior, and often useless?" :bang:
In this case a bunch of...
I'm not an expert on price, but since it will probably be the x factor in what you decide to do, I'd order one of those reports -carfax?-- to make certain that there is no public info that contradicts the mileage.
The comment on lockers being a plus in a resale is going to be correct. Also...
I'm sure you checked, but if not, the 1999 LC vol 1 and 2 are for sale on ebay at this time for a reasonable price, shipped.
I have the downloaded versions for some of my vehicles, and the paper versions for two of them, and my conclusion is that the paper versions are far more useful. My...
Having acquired a hard copy of the 06 repair manual (thanks-ebay) , I may be able to answer my own question from above.
I believe the front drive shaft bushing is being called the steering knuckle bushing in the repair manual, and it shows in the AH (axle hub) section of the repair manual...
I'd like to know the answer to this also. In the 2006 repair manual, it looks like the front driveshaft is what most would call the front axle. Its clear that the driveshaft is NOT the propellor shaft.
But in the drawings showing disassembly of the front drive shaft, there is nothing that I...
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'm inclined to think that the bearing suggestion will turn out to be the noisemaker, based on behavior.
Further ideas welcome.
