    Parts in Japan?

Greetings, I am being sent to Japan for a few months of work beginning in January (an hour south of Tokyo). Are there any unique and/or discounted parts available there for my FJ62? I'd love to dream that there are salvage lots filled with pristine old cruisers but this may not be the case...

    U-bolt/add-a-leaf question

Hello all, I just installed add-a-leafs on all fours corners of my FJ62 and it's an immediate, noticeable improvement in ride quality. The extra 1.5 to 2 inches of lift doesn't hurt either. It was well worth the 10 hours (yes, I am slow) to put these on myself. By far, the most difficult...

    "Bucket List" trip to Alaska

Congratulations on your retirement! You are doing the extact things that I want to do when I'm done with work. As far as Alaska goes, bring a fishing rod and, for your route, be prepared for some of the most beautiful, unspoiled land you've ever seen.

Free Chrome Wheels in San Diego

These came off my '88 FJ62 and I am trying to get rid of them. They are in San Diego and I am not interested in shipping. I think I have two chrome center caps laying around somewhere. The price is FREE! If you need them and can come and get them send me a PM. Thanks.

    My Roof rack build

I could probably get away with standing on it without bending it. The cross pieces add lot of strength and rigidity. I don't have any need to place a ton of weight up there for my applications. If I ever have the time and cash to go on an expedition then I'll consider a heavier rack.

    My Roof rack build

mwdubs: Steal away! I stole the idea from a bunch of different places on the internet. I wanted to rent a tube bender but couldn't find a place that rented one. I would have probably saved $20.00 if I had a tube bender. TLCAddict: I'll probably put no more than 100 lbs up there. I had my...

    My Roof rack build

It's 5.5" top to bottom. The tubes are 1" in diameter and the uprights are 3.5".

    My Roof rack build

Thought I'd share a few pics of this roof rack I built for my '88 FJ62. The entire rack is make from 3/4" EMT conduit, flux-core welded together. I used a 110V Lincoln MIG/flux core welder for the entire build. If you've never welded conduit it's very thin and is easily burned through if you...

taking my 60 to rota spain

The base does have a gas station and pricing is based on a ration that is given to those stationed in Rota. Permanently stationed personnel are alloted a certain number of gallons (or liters) of gas per month at the "good deal" Navy Exchange prices. If you use more than your ration of gas...

taking my 60 to rota spain

I spent a month in Rota last year for work also with the USN. You'll have a great time. Rota is also a great launching point for visiting the rest of Europe with is easily accessible via Ryanair. Sorry, but don't have any experience with transporting a vehicle overseas but do know that...

Dash light problem, can someone help??

I am far from an electrical expert but it sounds like it may be a bad ground. I would try to find a wiring diagram and start checking all the ground.

    Peeling clearcoat options

This is the hood on my '88 FJ62. The peeling clearcoat really bothers my but I don't have time or money for a full repaint of the vehicle. I'd would like to repaint only the hood using matched paint from a local body shop but need help on surface prep before I begin. Here my questions: 1)...
