Watch the liftgate as well, open it up and tap around the bottom. Water and the associated salt get trapped in there. Had a 2000 LX that lexus replaced the liftgate due to that problem.

So the wife got smashed a couple of weeks ago by a couple of idiots who decided it was fun to get into an argument along a main thoroughfare...
Same issue on my my2000. Filed the complaint. First time I have ever had a total failure on a braking system, even with rigs topping half a million miles.
With 260k miles on there this will be a pretty pressing matter, you might only have another few hundred thousand miles to go before that 4.7 fails.
On a serious note though, wouldn't rebuilding the 4.7 and using forced induction be the far simpler option?
