Spare tire going back underneath :(

I’ll have to look into that rack if I can’t get the 1up to work the way I want. I can’t bring myself to put the spare back underneath. The 305 fits under there a lot differently than the factory spare and it would look pretty goofy. I think I’m going to switch to a 2” hitch dropper from the 4”...

Spare tire going back underneath :(

Thanks for the pictures. So you’re saying to run that you had to replace the crossmember? I put my BIOR on in 2012 and I’m having a hard time remembering what I did. I think I had to notch the cross member. Any reason I wouldn’t I be able to put that same carrier you’re running in the BIORs hitch?

Spare tire going back underneath :(

That second one looks like the ticket. Wish I had the skills/tools/means to do that myself. Any chance you have any other pictures of how it’s set up? I’m having a hard time imagining how the swing outs get around your bike. I’d really like to carry 4 bikes on my BIOR without losing my swing...

Spare tire going back underneath :(

Yeah, I get that but it’s not exactly bolted down on the strike side either. Shortly after I got my bumper I had to find the sweet spot in adjusting the U-bolt, tight enough so the carrier wouldn’t rattle while driving over every minor bump, but not so tight that the U-bolt didn’t shear off the...

Spare tire going back underneath :(

That’s a cool idea. My first thought is of the stress on the spindle. I see that they address that in the referenced thread, but I still have reservations about putting the tire, the hi-lift, the rack and up to four bikes on the one spindle. I can’t speak for the slee, but my BIOR rattles at the...

Spare tire going back underneath :(

That is basically what I was running before with the Yakima. Putting the weight of a hitch carrier, plus 2-4 bikes on basically just the spindle is too sketchy. My tire carrier was too jiggly even with the yakima and one bike.

Spare tire going back underneath :(

Well just dropped $750 on the 1up so I’m not really quick to ditch it. It truly is the best rack on the market as far as I could find. I looked at Mike at BIORs options for mounting 2 vertically on the would-be ladder carrier, but 1up (and pretty much all other roof carriers, which could be...

Spare tire going back underneath :(

Hey guys. Multi-prong post here. After almost losing my shiny new carbon mountain bike on the highway last month I decided it was time to ditch the yakima spare tire bike carrier I had mounted on my BIOR swing out, in favor of a 1up hitch carrier. That came with its own set of issues. Aside...

    IBS-DBS: Interesting malfunction and solution

Add me to the list of RBM failures. Ripped that sucker out and now everything seems to be working fine again. I always have jumper cables with me anyways so I'd still be able to "link" the batteries in the event of a total starter battery drain. Thanks OP for this thread. I had just ordered a...

    Amplifier Relay Dilemma

Howdy yall. I'm trying to work through a wiring issue without setting my cruiser on fire and could use some input from our more electrically savvy mudders. I have a dual battery system on my rig with an aging Sears Die-hard PM-1 31 for the primary and a 34 for the Aux. Both soon to be replaced...

Poll on total brake failure in 100 series

Wow, I just read all 15 pages of this thread. Apparently I haven't checked this forum in a few years. And now I feel just a little bit less safe in my cruiser :/ Voted no. '98 with 186k. I'm the third owner. Bought it from my dad with 114k. Not sure of anything prior to that. Any parts that...

For Sale  Factory roof rack for '98 100 series

Just installed a Gamiviti rack so I'm selling my factory rack. The finish has peeled almost completely off the front bar and is starting on the rear bar. Could be easily rattle canned to look new. Other than that it is mechanically sound. All of the hardware needed to mount and plastic covers...

Front Weathertech floor liners fit like crap

I second the heat gun. Mine fit like yours do when I got them. If you don't have one you can't usually pick up a "good enough" one at harbor freight for less than $20.

Anyone still making front recovery points in the US?

I would be interested in the recovery points with spacers for the ARB as well. Any concerns that the spacers might decrease the strength by increasing leverage? (Full disclosure: I am not an engineer and this may not be a legitimate concern. Just a thought.)

Couple questions on a new to me '98, looking for an OEM roof rack

Wish I would have saw this yesterday. I was just in Bellevue yesterday buying a third row from another mudder. I've been pondering a roof rack upgrade for a while.

    LC shop in Medford/Ashland area?

That's too bad. I'll try to find it and see if they're still up and running anyways. I might just DIY it. Strange there's no aftermarket toyota shops around here. There seem to be plenty of cruisers and tacos.
