    hard top or soft top?

    Have you got somebody handy to help you lift the hard-top off when you want to go topless ? Its heavy and ackward and takes up a lot of space. Get a Paki-top from Eshan. :D

    I'd think a SOA would ride better on the street then any lift spring but I can't really say because I never ran a 4' lift. I went straight to SOA. I've daily driven mine.

    Going to look at FJ62

    10-12 mpg FORGET IT ! Back in the good old days I had a 2002 F150 SuperCrew with a 5.4L. It got 14 in the city and I thought that was bad. I am pretty sure my FJ40 with a warmed over 350 and 35's gets better then 10mpg. Sounds like a real good candidate for a small block with TBI swap.

    Going to look at FJ62

    I've had my FJ40 for years but need a family mobile for daily commuting and camping. I am going to look at a cheap FJ62 but don't have any experience with them. Add says 6cyl EFI auto air. I assume that is a 3FE ? What kind of power does that straight 6 have and what fuel economy...

    I would say go for the 700R4. Are you going to stick with the offset cruiser case ? I have been thinking about going with an automatic with a centered case and ditching my SM420/3speed combo but I am concerned about the length of 700R4 and the expense of adapters.

    V8 heater issue

    Elliminate it and run the heater hoses directly to the heater core through the firewall. I also have a different kind of valve that I got at Princess Auto(industrial and farm store) in line to turn the coollant flow off in the summer time.

    Daily Driver FJ40

    Power steering, disc brakes, nice stereo, comfy seats, good heater or AC depending on your climate. I am thinking 33X9.50's would ride nice and not follow the ruts too much. You could flip the springs and to lengthen the wheelbase and improve the ride. Maybe a shackel reversal.

    I am going to vote mogs. Ground clearance is absolutely sick. Well worth the work and expense. Will work well with the terrain in BC.
