    Ryan's 80 Build/Swap

Once I really get started on something it usually doesn't take me too long. I procrastinate a lot but I do a lot of research during that time so things go as smooth as possible. Plus, these old diesels are super simple. The transmission was the only part that required any thinking.

Happy New Year! Let's see... I think I finished most things last April and began to drive it in May. I quickly found out the hard way that there's too much restriction in the 4core aluminum radiator for the plastic Duramax fan. It ended up eating through the radiator during some spirited...

    Early GM 4l80e Pan Options

I'm wrapping up a 6.5TD swap on my 80 Series and I have some clearance issues with the front drive shaft. I lifted the suspension 3" and installed a narrower shaft from Tom Woods. I'm still a little concerned about the clearance between the shaft and the transmission pan. Although it doesn't...

I honestly thought that there wasn't much happening on Mud anymore. Looks like I will have to dig around some more. Thanks for the info! Hope to see you guys soon. I'm pretty we met at GSMTR years ago. We were working on moving a GX470 with a bent tie rod.

Maybe it is everywhere now. I'm just thinking back to when I was a kid. I grew up in the Midwest and we had blizzards during the winter and tornadoes in the summer. We always had enough to get by for a week or two with no power or trips to the store. My grandmother lived in Texas Creek, CO...

On thing I have realized living down here is people like to make a run on supplies as soon as there's any sign that something might happen. I think it's just a chain reaction at this point. Everyone is trying to beat everyone else to make sure they have theirs. They're not so much concerned...

I hope supply comes back soon. It sucks not being able to drive because of backorders, but my business doesn't rely on these parts. I have been getting some in-stock notifications on the some of the parts I've looked at in recent months. At least that's a good sign...

I can't wait to hit some of these events. I've been without a rig for too long!

I see a lot of people dealing with the same issues. It just hurts because I just finished an engine swap and I'm driving around the yard with pieces of 2x4 stuffed in the coils so that the front axle flange doesn't hit the oil pan. It wouldn't be so bad if I just wanted the lift, but I can't...

This would be a great shake down run for my 80 but its stuck in the shop until I get my suspension from Dobinsons that still hasn't shipped. I will unfortunately have to miss this one.

    Ryan's 80 Build/Swap

I gave up on trying to plan around the dump on the GM8 turbo. Today, I received deliver of an hx35 which will give me more options for running a down pipe. I plan on dropping between the fender and the frame into the back of the fender well. It will run straight back to the rear tire and turn...

    Ryan's 80 Build/Swap

Just wanted to give a quick update since I haven't posted in a little while. I have the hydroboost done. It took some creative bending of the stock Chevy lines. The only real modification I had to make was the pressure line to the steering box. I cut off the o-ring style connector on the...

She's in. I have the entire drive train slanted so that the t-case is a couple of inches more to the passenger side. I still have exhaust, linkages, wiring, brakes, fuel, and cooling lines to go. I made an adapter plate for the hydroboost system, but the center hole was too large and I am...

Definitive 1" Body Lift How To

Awesome. I hope it's helpful. It isn't a great production, but there isn't much info in this area. You might be able to make a spacer too, just make sure that you have enough extra linkage to make up the difference. Also, my 80 is a '91 so keep that in mind.
