Help - Factory Winch problem with 12/24V

Actually found out the answer - I was using the wrong battery, should have been using the left hand battery which I thought was the starter battery but is in fact the aux battery. DOH!!!!!!!

Help - Factory Winch problem with 12/24V

Help. I finally got around to fitting an earth cable direct from my AISIN factory winch on my HDJ80. The vehicle has the 24V starting 12V running system. Problem is (And this didn't happen when I connected the earth of the winch straight to the chassis) that when I start the engine I get a...

Which CB Antenna And Where To Mount....

I have a Sharman KA-27/AT-1 base loaded mounted on my bull bar with the base at the same level as the hood. Actually used an exhaust mount to mount the bracket to the hoop. It works well and doesn't spring too much compared to a Stinger type aerial but springs enough to protect it from damage...

Ham/APRS Demo at Surf and Turf'08

Wish I was in the US, I'd come and have a look. I'm looking into APRS and setting up a mobile station on my Toughbook in my LC. I am part of a 4x4 response group and looking at tracking for vehicles when they are out on a job. I don't have a 2M rig at the moment and was also interested in the...

Toughbook CF-28 with wireless screen CF-VDW07

Thanks. I'll be really happy with it when I get the docking station mounted in the cargo area, will keep it safe and tidy. The one thing about still being in the 18th century is that there is little to go wrong. I gotta say that if I could get it by my wife, I'd go and find myself a 55. It...

Toughbook CF-28 with wireless screen CF-VDW07

Just thought I'd post some pictures of the Panasonic wireless screen in my 80. GregB asked about this so here goes. First picture shows the universal 4 prong mount fitted on the back of the wireless screen (Panasonic CF-VDW07). Second picture shows the Arkon Swan Neck mount fitted and a...

please school me on how to exploit my Toughbook

OK my suggestions. 1st, get a decent mount for the Toughbook. Panasonic do a Vehicle mount Docking unit (CF-WEB273) as do LED and Kodiak. You can mount it in the back out of the way powered up by a LIND auto adaptor. Get hold of a separate screen - I am using a CF-VDW07 wireless screen...

    Hilux Surf winch control?

Bernd. That's the same Winch as Mine, Aisin A1000. Rated to 3600KG on a 3 line pull. You can still get these refurbished and as I understand it they are very strong and even though the rated pulling power is low for a 70 or 80 series, it will do it all do, albeit slowly as the 1 line pull...

2LTE Cylinder Head replacement in LJ78 Prado

Heh Ali. Don't feel too bad about wiring the Bus bar for the glow plugs the wrong way round. It's easy to do, very common and I think is about the only reason that Toyota sell so many of the 80 amp fuses.

Interesting info from BC Minister of Transportation

Looking at it from the other way round, I used to drive a '71 Camaro LHD in the UK. I think driving on the 'wrong' side of the road actually makes you drive more cautiously and be less likely to get in an accident. as a lot of accidents are caused by overtaking at inappropriate points, and being...

    HDJ81's with 7 passenger capacity?

In the UK as far as I am aware, the 80 Series VX was always 7 seats, only 5 seat ones we see are JDM imports. As has been said I am pretty sure only the Gas FJ81 and FZJ81 had 7 seat option on the JDM models

    HDJ81's & Accessories

See the thing is that you aren't going to get anymore peak boost from the turbo without modifying the boost valve, bigger exhaust can't change that cos the valve will still work at the same boost. However you can make it spool up quicker because of lower pressure on the output which means a...

    HDJ81's & Accessories

I would think that run on a dyno you wouldn't find much if any total power or torque difference however the power and torque band should change fundamentally with peak torque and power coming in lower down the rev band as the turbo spools up quicker. I have driven a Hilux surf with a larger...

    HDJ81's & Accessories

As far as I know the only available factory winch options were a PTO winch and the Electric which is 3600kgs rating and is an Aisin Built unit. They also built one for the Hilux Surf which I with was a 2500KG unit or ther abouts. No Hydraulic factory option. The Electric winch is...

    Hhilux / Prado question

    Actually Prado is same as 7X series Cruiser and then 9X Series Cruiser. Prado is From my Knowledge. Pickup either has 2.4 Diesel - 2L engine 2.4 TD - 2LT 2.4 TD - 2L2 2.8 D - 3L D4D Hilux Surf or Diesel 4 Runner 2.4 TD - 2LT 2.4 TD - 2LTE 3.0 TD - 1KZT (UK Market...

    HDJ81's & Accessories

From the point of adding this stuff, 80 and 81 are physically the same in the same model years. Sliders for a pre 95 won't fit a post 95 as there is a slight difference in length as far as I am aware also some will only fit the non wide wheelarch models. Slee do ones to fit all types.

Another LJ78 head bites the dust...

Greg. Yes the newer heads have measurably more meat on the face, don't seem to have the problems. However again the cooling system on the 2LT/2LTE engine is marginal at best, lots of things can be done to improve it including a bigger radiator - need to have a fixed fan for that though as the...

    Here I Go Again...

You could get some 1/4 inch steel and bolt this to the winch mounting holes on the frame rails, then bolt the towbar upwards through this. Would certainly be strong enough or better than that, a piece of U Section bolted through the bottom and top, then mount the bar onto this. This setup is how...
