Hi guys... I'm in need of a 12H-T vacuum diagram as well. I know this is an old thread, but I'm hoping somebody might have a link or some PDFs handy to email or post here. I tried the .fr link below to no avail, and have a mostly useless Gregory's from Down Under.
I have a JDM 12H-T that's...
Spot on, SimonInAustralia. Many thanks. Just received the cone washers for the steering arms tonight, so I'll get after this rebuild tomorrow. Now I gotta pick some grease for the knuckle bearings and CVs.
This was a great write-up! Thanks SteelArt. I'm ground-up rebuilding my 1985 Aussie-market HJ-75 Troopy, and I used this thread for the dis-assembly of my 299,000 km front axle. It was 100 times better than the Gregory's #502 I bought last time I was Down Under.
Now... Where's the...
Clint - Tyre carrier is LONG GONE - this Troopy had Hi-Rail gear back there when I bought it. A little plasma last week got rid of the rest of the unwanted bracketry.
I spent a couple days chasing some leads, but I don't think it's worth the time or expense to source a Troopy fuel door from...
Rosco - thanks for the link. I think the rear tanks fill at the rear of the Troopy, maybe behind the rear tyre. One of the front tanks says it adds a second filler door, and I'm guessing that mounts in front of the rear tyre.
I contacted Long Ranger and was told that they buy the parts to...
Hey folks...
Tomorrow, I'm going to start fabbing a 30 gallon aux. fuel tank for the Aussie HJ-75 Troopy / 12H-T conversion project. The tank's going behind the rear axle, between the frame rails. It will become the main tank, and the original under-body tank will become the reserve, to be...
Hi guys,
It's been a while since my last post. I'm in the process of restoring a 1985 Australian market HJ-75 Troopy. Just today, I finally got around to rolling the chassis out from underneath the body.
I have a JDM 12H-T engine to replace the tired 2H diesel, and I'm wondering which...
Roscoe - I'll watch for the bolt problem. 17% humidity here and never much moisture, so maybe I'll get lucky.
Simon - I used plasma to cut the frame off the next day, no worries, thanks to your measurements. My new ARB bull bar proved just a hair too narrow to slide onto the chassis rails...
Hi folks,
I'm getting ready to remove the body of my 1985 Troopy, so I can go to work on the chassis. The vehicle is in one of my shop bays now, and I intend to fabricate a couple cross-members to pick up the body at front and rear factory mounting points. I'll use four one-ton camper jacks...
Simon...
THANK YOU! Just what I needed. I guessed they probably just welded an extension on at that point. But before cutting it off, I thought best to ask. Over here, I can't just "check out the neighbor's" or look in a parking lot.
I have an ARB bull bar and M12000 winch to fit this...
Hi folks,
When I bought my 1985 Aussie HJ-75 Troopy almost two decades back, there was Hi-Rail gear installed. I'm now restoring it and putting the vehicle back in factory form, and I need to remove a couple frame extensions that were installed to make way for the hydraulics and rail wheels...
Thanks to all for your comments. Sorry I didn't reply sooner - I got tagged for jury duty and had to listen to an ambulance-chaser for a week+.
Stone - I found your 12H-T / FJ80 conversion to be a great read. I'll refer to it often as I start the transplant into my Troopy in the coming weeks...
I recently picked up a 12H-T to transplant into my stock 2H-powered 1985 Aussie-market HJ75. When I looked it over, I saw "24 Volt" written on the valve cover. I never even thought to ask, so live and learn.
How much is compatible with my 12V system? I would imagine I'll need to come up with...
Hi... I came over here to post a question about my 24V 12H-T, and saw your post. Really should be a great conversion! I have a 617A that's been sitting on my shop floor for a few years, and I thought about putting it in my '75 FJ40, or '85 FJ60.
I got a deal on two of them back when I was...
There was another big rail car that I never saw in person. I have an 8x10 of it around somewhere. As I understand it, the big rail car had all of the ultrasonic rail test gear in it, and the troop carrier was used to shuttle stuff to it. SSTech had a really nice building in Guernsey, Wyoming...
Yes, I still have the Hi-Rail gear in the shop. It was massive, and I ditched it while I was still driving the HJ in the mid 90's.
The Fuso camper is what I build in my business - Welcome to RUF-Inc.. Been building them since 2003. I'm not sure where to go now, as the new DPF-equipped...
After 12 years in a dry Wyoming storage building, my 1985 HJ-75 finally hitched a ride back up the dirt road to the workshop. And after those 12 years, she fired right up when connected to an 1100 CCA AGM battery I keep around. I did shoot a tiny squirt of ether in the air intake, after a...

Thanks for your advice.
I discussed some parts with tlcruiserman six months ago or so. I've tried emailing him quite a bit, at tlcruiserman@westcoastcruisers.com, but I haven't receive any replies since our original discussion.
Is that the right email address? I'd really love to...
This winter, I'm restoring a 1985 Australian HJ-75 Troopie I bought about 17 years ago and put into storage. I've got to drive down to San Diego next week.
Can anyone recommend someone (private or business) who might have a windshield (or two) to sell, for my Troopie? I'd hate to drive near...
