Thanks all, it was a bad day but hey we all need to move on.
Re keeping my brain active, you would be surprised what needs to be done to keep a slightly warmed over 200 BHP Astra Estate in good fettle, perfect for taking the 'crusties' and their cases to the airport for the pensioners weekend...
I sadly have to report that my LC 80 has now been sold. 😪 Given my health issues I knew it was only a matter of time. The new buyers are friends of good friends, so I know it is going to a good home. I hope they enjoy the unerring reliability that I have.
Thanks to all that have followed...

Just a record note, so today I fitted a new air filter and finally got the indicator/hazard lights relay. Readers will recall that I pointed out that this is a potential fire risk? In the past there have been a number of RHD 80's going up in flames...
Owned by me for over 13 years this is no ordinary ‘80’ and it is only being sold due to ill health.
This is NOT JDM.
Please note, this car is originally from the UK and is right hand drive, presently it is registered and insured and being used in Spain, to re-register back into the UK would be...
Well someone asked about aftermarket bushes, and I said 'Forget Pedders'.
So let me explain.
Noting you are not new to the forum, and you show you have two Land Cruisers, I had (possibly wrongly) assumed you had heard of Pedders? If you have, then my quote of 'Forget Pedders' surely says it...
Some years back I purchased a BLUE SOLAR charge controller, I also purchased the Bluetooth attachment, the idea being that I could check the charge rate at any time without visiting the 80, as it is kept in the garage a fair amount I have a solar panel on the garage roof, it was a good...
Given mine is a diesel, it had a generally shaky idle vibe. I went for the engine mounts. The difference is night and day. The compression design hides the fact that the rubber is losing its adhesion to the metal part of the mount, I found my left mount and rubber were completely separate...
Not a proper update, so just I don't forget, I replaced the ariel switch illumination bulbs today, apparently low on warehouse stock as it took ages to get them.
84999-10410 2 off at a price of €11.36 each, not too bad price wise, AFAIK these are peculiar to the ariel switch, not being used...
I have a 94 with the earlier dashboard which I prefer to the later version however, I see the later switches can have the labeling changed, anyone managed to change the labelling on the earlier versions?

Dave.
I remember reading OEM Toyota alloy wheels were the only ones to withstand a 40 MPH impact into a 4inch curb without damage.
I like the look of the OEM 16 x 8 rims I already have, having said that I think when off road and away from help, a steel rim is the better option in that they can often...

Given the 80 had been parked for over 22 months until I got my licence back, and now I have I am continuing to go through the various systems looking for possible future problems, a sort of deep preventative maintenance if you like?
Today I took out the...
As above really, diagnosis is always harder than the fix.
What resources do you have on board? Cable, pipe, FSM, MM, are you alone, water and food, meds if needed, can you walk out?
Try this first, if you or a friend has some gasoline in a can, then pour a little more than a thimble full into...
I know this is an old post but I am finally (13 years!) getting to the stage when I need to cut mine out. I agree about leaving the centre in, it is sooooo easy to open my RTT when standing on the tailgate.

Dave.
