do you not have an idle cable already on the lower dash.
all my cruisers have this cable which controls the butterfly in the plenom (sp) so I can fast idle on cold mornings similar to a choke.
The cable is connected to the gas pedal and lock at what ever rpm you want.
Remove or loosen off the motor mount bolts and put a block of wood under the front of the oil pan and lift with a jack just watch the fan blades and shroud I have done this many times.
On the 2B that is the 4WD solenoid on the firewall with reservoir along the frame and vacuum pump on the back of alternator.
1983 BJ42 is same except the 4wd is manually activated no solenoid not sure about earlier models of 42
The factory flares that came on my BJ44 are separate from the tub they are spot welded on.
Its to bad they were not optional or offered over the parts counter at Toyota I really like the way they look.
Filter is after the pump not sure the purpose of Diesel purge unless it works on cleaning injectors.
Seafoam is supposed to loosen carbon buildup it cant hurt to run some through.
If you fill the filter using a screened funnel no problems best way to avoid bleeding being doing it for over 30 years
Actually the round thingy is a speed alarm JDMs had these so you would not exceed a certain speed mandated in Japan around that time I believe mine sound off at 90 or 100 kph.
All my JDM 41s and my 44 have had them I have dissabled them.
Generally any well worn Toyota key will work just find someone who has several sets.
I have several Cruisers and and even more sets of keys and I find they are almost all inter changable I even use one set for my SR5 truck
I have a couple of JDM 40 series with strong arm steering looking to convert to power steering and need some direction on what boxes will work outside of the standard 40 and 60 boxes.
The standard 40 and 60 boxes are hard to find in the North American market so if anyone can give me some other...
Thanks
I think that is where im at with my bell cranks I hear one side click when applying E brake so I will try to spray and clean the cranks so both sides function properly.
Thanks for the feed back
The reason I ask the question is to get an understanding of the brake mechanism .
When I was installing the new brake pads today I notice when I pulled on the E Brake lever attached to the pad it caused the adjuster cog to advance one click and every time I pulled on...
My bj44 rides much smoother than my bl41 and bj42 they all have stock original suspension original shocks and same kilometers the extra length in the bj43 has less hop than the shorter wheel based 40 models.
Is that new or used you will pay a lot more for one out of OZ brand new.
If you are burning coolant quick test idle engine with red cap off if you see tiny bubbles you have a crack if lucky just a bad gasket.
Some of that cost is in rebuilding the injection pump and new injectors and there are other parts you will need that are not included in a rebuild kit.
Dont short cut if you are rebuilding a tired old 3B if you do it right it will last another 4-500k
The fuel line on the 62 has several pin holes I am wanting to cut the section out and replace with high pressure rubber hose and want to know what the PSI max rate is on the charged line.
Gravel driveway done 3 trany pulls in the past on the gravel no fun so I was thinking this would be the easy way out.
I will have to reassess things since this Cruiser has a 4 inch lift with a lot of hardware on the front end not sure my hoist will lift high enough
