Yes, total bummer, the whole episode with that mechanic was, now looking to take it to a different mechanic from now on.
It was the perfect time to install them, and he has the gear and skills to do it, just not the time to get to the jobs that I need done, such a PITA!
No problem with the...
Hey Georg,
No updates, unfortunately.
Had a new clutch installed recently, the mechanic was supposed to fit the twin sticks for me, but ended up stuffing me around for ages, and then didn't have time to install them by the time I needed the truck back.
So still sitting there, waiting to...
I have the factory electrical wiring diagram for the post 1990 HZJ, if you had one for the pre 1990 HJ then you could work through both comparing connector types and individual loom wire functions.
The HZ in the model code means that it has a 1HZ engine.
Not very powerful engines, owners of other trucks with the 1HZ often put turbo kits on them, but then they are not as reliable as the factory turbo engines since they were not designed for a turbo.
The wheels look like maybe 16x8" black...
Excellent, thankyou.
I have sent Timo an email about the mounting kit.
I notice that you also have an HZJ78, I am going to fit my portal axles to my HZJ78.
Do you know if the radius arm mounting brackets would work with the HZJ78 radius arms, are they the same as the KZJ70 radius arms?
Did...
That is a tough looking 80 series, very nice!
I notice that you are in Iceland, do you have any idea where I can buy some Artic Truck style flares for the 70 series?
Artic Trucks will not sell them unless they are fitting the flares to the truck themselves.
Nice!!!
Looks like you drilled new holes in the axle/portal flanges to change pinion angle, is that correct?
Does it have any suspension lift over standard?
How did you calculate the change in pinion angle, and how much did you rotate the portal boxes with the new holes (how many degrees)...
Wayne, with the left hand side compartments, with the doors that drop down onto the bed, could you please tell me what the distance is from the top edge of the wheel well to the lower edge of the compartment cutout/door?
Thanks.
I would be up for a pair for sure.
If the spare is door mounted at the moment, but plan to put it on the bumper eventually, can the door reinforcement be easily removed? Is the reinforcement bolted in or welded?
Thanks!
I have seen two companies mentioned when discussing cruise control units for 1HZ Troopies.
I have not tried any of these, as yet, so not sure which work best.
Autron make the AusCruise cruise control units...

Hi Landmawe,
I am still waiting for replacement 5.99:1 ratio cw&p and right hand offset rear axle housing/half-shafts to come from the UK. The guy that is sending the replacement parts wanted to hold on to them a little while longer to have some aftermarket 5.99:1 cw&p's made up for spares...
Just look them up youself on toyodiy.com, if your are looking for <= 2007 parts.
It has diagrams, part numbers, and prices (which may not be current, but can give you an idea).
Use a proxy server to make it think you are located outside of the US, so you can see the diagrams.
As mentioned above, use toyodiy.com
That is a version of the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) put up onto a web page.
It has parts info and pricing, not sure if the pricing is $US/trade, and when it was valid for, but it should give you a good idea.
Yes, all same shape size, also some slight differences in the parts around the combination meter, such as pre-heating (and possibly other) lights in the panel surrounding the meter in the 75 vs pre-heating light within the combination meter on the 79, small things like that.
