I wish I knew more! The fist owner told my grandfather that some kids were driving around shooting out car windows, but they missed on it. One of my favorite parts of that cruiser!
If you're still looking, I have an FJ60 in Fayetteville, AR. Aftermarket stereo, other than that fairly stock rig with 152k miles. I currently DD it.

Im in Fayetteville, AR. 152k on the odometer, currently my DD. No rust, anytime I have seen a paint bubble I sanded it down to bare metal and hit it with Rust Reformer. Asking $11,000.

Jeez that was a colossal PITA, but I finally got them installed. I am glad I ordered extras, a couple of them wore out by the time I got the hang of things. The trick above was great, but it only worked on the motor end of the linkage. I pulled the whole mess out of mine because I had to replace...
I just ordered 4 of these bushings. Ill be selling any extra (hopefully 2) here in the US once i get mine set up if there are any takers. I am so excited to be able to use my wipers again
Thanks for the input guys! I really hope it isn't the R&P! I will drain the fluid this weekend and check to see if I am seeing metal flakes that should tell me if the gears are eating each other up.
Small update: today after I drove for a while I splashed water on the brake drums just to rule...
6 months ago I had the pinion nut back off on my while I was driving, so I replaced the third member. While I had everything apart I redid the rear brakes, had the drums resurfaced, new pads, adjusted everything as per FSM. Now I have some strange whining noise that I cannot locate.
- The noise...
Twice now... both in the last 6 months too. Thankfully I decided to get roadside assistance with my insurance (Best $16 I have ever spent!)
1) Rear differential flange bolt worked it's way off. She had been trying to tell me that something was going wrong, I had actually just hung up the phone...
Some way to repair the windshield wiper "slop". There are some plastic grommets that wear out on the linkages that just break after a while. I believe Toyota wants $160 for new ones. Mine are ugly looking when they go but they're functional, so I wouldn't spend that much on them.
Thank you for that resource! I just figured out that I have both the fuel tank recall and the rear seat belt recall. I just thought those rear seat belts sucked haha
I already took care of the stake with a punch, it's completely out of the way. I've been going after it with a breaker bar with no luck, 6 feet out. I may try the square tube to hold the flange in place, I've been using a pipe wrench between the flange and the ground to hold it still
So i have replaced the third member/differential on my '85 FJ60, everything was completely finished until I tried to bolt up the driveshaft, and realized that the bolt patterns are completely different. The flange on there currently is the rectangular one, so the differential is from an early...
Well its been a long couple of months, but I have made some serious progress and will (hopefully) have her on the road this weekend! I inspected the axle shafts, and everything was in spec. I opted to just get a new 3.73 diff and be able to be back on the road. The umph of 4.11s (especially with...
I am currently in the process of installing a new third member into the rear axle of my 60. I have been able to get the c-clips onto the axle shafts, but I am unable to fit the spacer for in between there (part the pinion shaft goes through). The third member I received did not come with a...
I appreciate the concern from everybody. It definitely was not a fun experience, but it was just me in the car. The fluid was actually full, it was the first thing I checked when I heard the noise. I am sure that I could've done something to prevent this, but that train left the station.
What...
I actually had been looking into switching to 4.11s for a while now, as I have 33s. This could be an easy opportunity to get the rear done. Are there any problems with having the gears uneven? Obviously I can't go into 4wd, but it's a road warrior anyway
