I recently took our '97 in for some exhaust rattles. Rotted out/ready for full replacement was the conclusion from the shop.
I replaced it cat back 3.5yrs ago, using Vibrant 3" resonator and Magnaflow 13646, with aluminized pipe. Pretty frustrated that it's lasted less than 4yrs.
How many...
FWIW, just had to remove 2 of the 4 SpiderTrax spacers on 5thGen T4R. Had installed w/ red LocTite (just a bit) per their instructions/kit, and the 85lb torque. Cheater bar to break the hold, and then battery powered impact to remove. Note: no heat, but on some nuts the effort to remove was too...
I've been running a set of 37s for the past 12mon on my typically heavy 80. Red rock, sand, snow/ice and some mud usage. The comments about how quiet they are match my experience. Track well, quiet (just recently getting some hum @6k mi), and good looks. The chip, with sidewall protection...
Bump on this thread...looking for anyone who has ADDED front tubes to a Short Bus to gain more a) protection higher up, b) ability to mount added lights, and/or c) better corner/marker protection.
I am trying to figure out the look/lines I want to not fight against the Slee tube angles. Just...
Appreciate all the input. Running a Short Bus and XP9.5 the air flow now is pretty free. I am looking at light arrangement in an inverted U shape to keep the direct frontal core open.
This is both intentional and (it seems) necessary due to just fitting the big reflectors in that space...
No luck finding past threads on this question, so hoping someone may have experience. The question is whether anyone has experienced radiator cooling efficiency losses after mounting 1pr or more of large driving lights in front of the grill,
I am looking at a pair of 240mm lights that will be...
FWIW I just did this identical exhaust, with two exceptions. First, the studs on the manifold were rusted so badly that we opted to cut the Y pipes and sleeve the new Magnaflow over them, and second my O2 sensors were toast (add $200). The bad part we found on the Mag Y pipe is that it places...
No experience with EBI or Chinesium, but kudos to Mitchell and the Marlin crew. My Crawler Gears have been a great mod for the 80. If you're interested in the install and life with them I wrote a review on them in 2014 here:
Review: Marlin Crawler 80 Series Low Range Gear Set
[Mod's, I am...
Sounds like it's time to check the savings acct!
Saw a 2F with full driveline axles, 4spd (ft disk brakes added) nearby for $1500, too. Looks like options abound.
Sure hope the wiring isn't FUBAR...
Windshield frame with glass comes with it. Plate reads Nov. 1970.
Noticed Warn hubs were added. Forgot to check if disk conversion was done...need to check. Has title. Forgot to check odo, but zoomed on some picts and looks like it reads 03371.0 so I assume it's right at 100k.
I have spare...
First, he's infatuated with 40's, so that's one impetus. He's thinking aviation mech, so wrenching in general is a possible direction. We have a better shop than skills, but at least a place to work out of the weather.
I may be able to get the truck for under $1000. I'm trying to gauge if we...
We'll only get one if it's in that 2-2.5k range. Too many kids in college...
It has an Avalanche Engineering plate as if they did the lift. There are hints it had the 1F replaced. Any tips on assessing if the motor is orig?
A friend has this 40. Fairly rough shape. No roof/doors. Seats are trashed. Had 3" metal body lift, Ranchos, home brew roll cage, Saginaw (or some kind), 1F, mismatched tires on alum rims, some Bondo, but rust isn't bad. No rear seats. He took it on trade for some work so doesn't know much about...
I shared a review of them at offroad .com and comment about cost and performance. Doesn't solve mt driving in the brick but offroad control is quite improved.
Was just about to post regarding something to replace mine. Same experience as others: wear too fast, pretty good in snow, tough, chunk some, quiet, smooth, can be hard to balance, fine in mud.
Not sure I'd get them again. Snow performance and quiet ride were the best attributes IMO.
