Does anyone have the knowledge on the R150 parts or kit? It sounds like the input bearing is gone. It also needs a clutch so shifting is rough. There are kits for R151 and 154 available but none on eBay that I see for a 150. Rock auto shows a US Gear kit for a R150. Any bias good or bad out there?
I seriously doubt that any damage was incurred. My Mark 2 VW (with a rotary pump) diesel owner manual gave instruction for dilution of diesel with gasoline up to 30% depending on outside temperature...extreme cold was the highest dilution. Mind you sulphur laden diesel was the norm then too.
The answer to your question is .... yes! Get 5W40 into that rig before you waste your starter motor. Some even go to 0W40 which is the way if you have no block heater or supplementary heat available to warm the block before cranking. Synthetic seems to crank easier than non synthetic but as far...
You should check the battery grounding connections as well as the engine/starter ground cable, both ends, chassis and starter. Your description of symptoms exactly copied a situation that I experienced with my 12 volt BJ60 which has never given me grief since reworking all the connection points...
I'd be looking at your injection pump. I believe that it is a rotary which when hot if it is worn or leaking internally on the low pressure lift side will present the symptoms that you describe.
I guess I wanted to ask you where you find R12 as it is getting rare these days. Also why do you not use R12A? It is cheap, makes cold better than 134A and if you have a leak it is no big deal to the atmosphere or procedure to repair and refill. Granted there is a risk with a combustable gas...
My local fixit guy says to add 4 ounces of ester oil - specific to air conditioner pumps, through any access point as it will find it's way to the bottom where the pump is located. Then add your gas after giving the oil a chance to find the pump. He has good results with this procedure on a...
Your work is looking good. Can you give me a closer view picture? Do you plan to put the original stainless trim on or do you have something else in mind?
I'd like to see how you are dealing with the drip rail at the roof's edge. Like yours my 60 has major rust at the roof edge all around, from the front doors around the back lift gate. There is little to work with. I have another 60 with a good roof, drip edge and windows that I am tempted to cut...
Maybe the fuel is water contaminated. Were temperatures cold enough there to freeze water in your new filter? After sitting and primimg, the filter may have warmed enough to unfreeze allowing flow of fuel again. Chase the system with a fuel system antifreeze and conditioner or dump the fuel for...
Any full service injection shop will have the heavy wall tubing needed to make up a set. All they need is your old ones as a pattern and the tube nuts from the old lines if you really want to save a few bucks. My local shop made me a replacement line for less than half the cost of new from...
Oil bath filter systems are also used on off road and agricultural equipment. They do need to be serviced but they are effective. They may be messy with a small leak. They still work if they get wet with water which is more than a paper filter can do. It would be a great place to plug in your...
Tubless tires are easier to fix for a puncture using a self amalgamating corded plug and needle. You don't have to pull them off the vehicle to effect a repair. Just a thought........
Thanks, guys. A search did give me the info to order. Parts Source, AKA CTC, had two in stock in the Brampton wharehouse of the Corolla 1200 u joints which when quized about the sizing are coming up very close by my ancient calipers just measuring the yoke cut outs. They will be here tomorrow. I...
Agreed that is a heavy unit but, the 13,000 model below it is less than 10 lbs lighter, looking physically the same dimension wise. I would assume that a winch if it is called on has to move the 5000 lb dead weight of the rig albeit rolling I hope plus whatever drag is exerted on the wheels due...
Has anyone got an opinion or better yet a personal experience with this product? I was looking at the 17,500 lb model at Princess Auto but was surprised at the max current draw...461 amps, advising a 60 amp alternator minimum, which makes my BJ60 look lame.

Remove, clean and or improve your battery ground cables, both of them at the frame/body connection points. With fully charged batteries this is the most likely point where a high resistance connection will cause trouble. No start experience led me to that place. A battery which is in a constant...
