For correction to previous statements. I by mistake doubled the travel up front. I am using 5125's with 14.3". All the bracketry is from Poly Performance not PCS. Like LCWizard said, 12" is a no brainer and the 15" I got was relatively easy and still one ends up with a extremely safe truck that...
Sorry all, been away traveling for work. And yes I do have a day job :)
To answer some questions: Ford shock towers with PCS lower shock mount brakets welded to front axle. This allowed better shock travel and utilized more of the droop available and less stuff. I have 2" front bump stops...
Drove most the day today. The BFG KM2's are not bad at all! I've driven much worse and noisy tires. There is a low rumble to them but noise is not really any concern. They grip very well and tend to make the Aussie work a little more in the rear end. They have a little more spongey feel than my...
Well, prolly right. Was always to be an exploration rig anyways, never a rock crawler :) Spent to much $'s to beat the S*#T out of it! But it's my dream :) Anyway, I can go anywhere the BIG DOG'S go, just because I will need to walk :)
Old Grey has New Shoes !
Finally! The BFG KM2's arrived got mounted and balanced by a friend of mine that has a motoring accessories shop, so worked out great! 33x10.50-15's look great have that tall skinny retro look combined with the black stockers :grinpimp: These will act as all around...
Got Tires! :)
After much thought and all the s@#t around getting wheels and tires that will work, I decided to stay with stock 60 chomies and have them powder coated black. Bought BFG KM2 31x10.50r 15 for now. Will arrive tomorrow:clap: This will get me up and rolling and buy me time down the...
SST (rear axle bearing locknut wrench) I got from SPX Service Solutions on their web site. Have all the available Toyota service tools. This was $38.00 Item No. 09509-25011.
WOW!
Never would have thought I would get a compliment on my rear end on this site:grinpimp: Had to check and make sure I did not log onto another site:hillbilly:
Thanks for the compliments all, I think:hhmm: Got the SST today and got my rear end all buttoned up! SST works nice and makes it...
Waiting on SST
Not been able to get a lot done due to work schedule. Did get the brake hard lines routed to match FF axle. Turns out I had a spare 85' SF axle in storage with the brake lines on it and they matched the FF axle routing.:clap:Turns out I think the earlier year model 60...
I would never do anything but the Marlin inner axle seals! Only about $8.00 ea. and a hell of a lot better than OEM! Get your gasket kit from Kurt of Cruiser Outfitters and the Marlin seals. If the 90w has not contaminated the bearing grease to bad and made a milk shake out of it you can prolly...
Smaller Pulley
This is what I did. Have plenty on clearance. Used a Grainger commercial pulley about 4.74" diam better low rpm pumping due to slight overdrive.
FF Axle Installed
Got the FF axle all buttoned up. Cleaned up hubs installed bearing races, all new brakes and wheel bearings the only thing I'm waiting on is the SST to set preload on the bearings. Went ahead and installed the right side aussie routed brake line to utilize the OEM hold down...
