Lol...I would love to replace the family member - but I am married to his daughter...so, you know. Thanks for the replies, I will see what happens tomorrow!
Hello all,
I have been off the boards for a while as work has had me away for a long while. I left my 88 FJ62 with a family member who said he loved driving it and would take care of it while I was gone.
I came home for good a few weeks ago to find that the battery had been pulled, and the...
5100 series are what I am running with my 2.5 OME. I only run them on road though, as the extended articulation of the suspension is right at the limit for these. I do love the ride though. If I am headed for a trail - the OMEs go back on.
I think I would do a rebuild kit for the TC, and put a McNamara gear in there while your at it. Dont know much about the the 60 TCs as far as ratios go, so I am of no help there.
Pm sent about some parts... :hhmm:
I am following this one - mine is coming sooner than later, I hope!
I am definately about simplicity in this, and doing more for less. This truck is going to be sharing the duty of daily driver, so the less maintenence I need to do to it down the road the better.
That is awesome!
I do a lot of things myself, the little stuff; knuckle rebuilds, tranny flush, OME lift, valve adjustment... What worries me about doing my own swap is the little things - the details. Engine angle, the wiring, some of the fab work. I am looking at welders now - wire feed vs...
The parts a vailability is huge factor, and carries a lot of weight in my decision making. The last thing I want is to have something go wrong, or I break something and have to spend days - maybe weeks tracking down something simple like an alternator.
So why a 400 or 700r as opposed to an NV4500?
I have to admit, there is a bit of purist in me. I have akways wondered what the truck ran like off the showroom floor - maybe I already know!
The other thought that keeps crossing my mind is a diesel...
Very nice indeed! Not a bad looking little piggy either! I think this is in my future. Who did the rear bumper? I have seen that one around on the forums...
This is an old arguement, I know. But my recent trip to the mountains has me thinking that something needs to change, so I am exploring my options.
A call to a local engine rebuild shop put the cost of an overhaul (estimated, of course) at $2200.00. Seemed cheap to me. They have never done a...
I like it! I think I need one. I am especially fond of the green gripper-clampy thingys, and in the event I lose both hands in a bizarre gardening accident, those are what I want them replaced with!
Looks like a good clean install - nice job! Was it a huge pain, or no?
Hmmmm....so if all is functioning properly, there should be no change when turning that screw. It was definately adjusting the idle with minimal movement. Now I just need to isolate where the issue is.
I checked the TPS and ISC valve per the FSM this evening, with the exception of the bench...
So, what is the flatblade screw above the TPS that I tweaked last night? Now I just feel silly! I am pulling the throttle body tonight for a good cleaning, and running ohms checks on the ICS and the TPS. Maybe i Wii find something off there....
Hello all,
My 88 62 is still giving me a few fits. RIght now, as the engine warms the idle gradually increases. But when I run the A/C, the idle spikes instantly, and remains high even after the A/C is turned off. When I say high, I am talking in the 1100-1300 rpm range. Cranking down the...
With the pan being indented llike that, and part of the threads missing, it looks to me like the plug was overtightened - probably a number of times. There are a lot of band-aid fixes for this, but the best way to ensure that you wont have any more issues is to get a new (used) pan with good...
So, I read my codes today - code 28 - No. 2 O2 sensor signal. With the engine running, there is exhaust escaping around the sensors where the pipes are rusted through. Awesome...
