holy old thread batman. I was saerching for an Offy C and was told by offy that they discontinued to LandCruiser manifold. any ideas for a 4bbl intake ..... I want to run a holley 470 truck avenger.
the explorer is a 94 2door sport with a manual T-case (or rather had a manual T-case, that whole power train and axles now resides in an 85 ranger). The explorer is left with a mint frame and body.
not enough wrecked JK jeeps to rob axles from yet, and they are not full float.
we are looking...
3" body lift to get a 4BT into a 91 - 94 explorer, done this swap 3 times now. Wasn't planning on the explorer's T-case because it barley stands up to the engine that comes in the explorer.
I tried talking him into an 80 but he already has the explorer and as far as we know this has never been...
I am helping a friend build a ford Explorer for a south american Expedition. we are using a 4bt cummins and ditching the Ford TTB for straight axles. thinking about 80 axles with the electric lockers. the big reason is they are coil sprung, heavy duty, already loaded with 4.10's, and approx the...
yep, its toast, I just did mine. I let it go to the point that I was losing 1000 rpm to slippage in 4th gear, my fly wheel was blue when it came out, if my wife hasn't sent it back to specter yet I might be able to post a pic of what the old smoked clutch looked like.
not far enough though. only got a max of 6k on one. same deal for an 80 series. been sing alot 3rd gen for 5K or less around the 120,000 mile mark........ leaning heavily on the 5spd too.
I forgot about the damn oil changes ........ having to pull the skid plate on the Taco to get to the oil...
I don't know what the norm is for a 4Runner but my taco averaged 19 and i got as good as 26 out of it with a 3.4L and 5spd on a road trip from AZ to Seattle to visit the inlaws.
yeah I like the 3.4L, in 18 months I put over 100,000 miles on my Tacoma, the only reason we don't still have it is because I had a 5 year lease and had to get rid of it so I didn't get hit on the mileage. If an engine can survive the way i drove 9 years ago (before kids) then it should last...
I have to talk to my wife about that, she has already warned me about another project that sits in the driveway waiting for me to do something with ...... ie ....... 91 Suburban with a dead transmission I have been waiting for time to pull it, now with winter coming I won't get to it till spring...
I would need a pulley anyways, my pump is off a 91 and has a serpentine pulley on it, looking at though it is easily changed to a regular pulley. got to give GM credit where credit is due, that pump was the same for 30+ years
talked it over and she decided 4 runner because while I only drive 8 miles a day she drives 100 miles on friday and we put about 50 miles on it through the weekend. From what I can tell the 4Runner is lighter than the 80 series and it will fit on my trailer.
ok I just looked at your set up but I am dense. you bolted it to the 2F mount and ran an adjustment bar to the hole where thee smog pump used to be ......... used the middle pulley so you have 2 belts on the water pump and didn't need the smog pump as a belt link..... is that about right? what...
can a GM power steering pump be adapted to a 2F? anything else that would work with out costing over $400 for a new part.
keep in mind I have a dead 91 Suburban sitting next to my Garage ..... I can rob the whole thing from pump to gear box.
really ?????? If my math is correct then my factory tach is fairly accurate.
my math based on my speedo being a proven 10% off so at 50 mph its actually going 55 which should be 2100 on the tach with the 33s
