VNTs are a compromise between cost emissions and performance. Performance is the least important out of those as far as the accountants at the manufacturers are concerned.
Compounds for a high numbers or properly set up twin scrolls for everyday drivability are a much better idea, especially on...
Sucks to hear you've gotta get rid of your rigs gerg. I keep my middy and the new one I've got and the hj60 parts donor at work so the missus can't see them :hillbilly:
Not sure if you mentioned or not but what is the twin scroll from? Mate of mine with a 1kd hilux wants to do a compound set up...
I've heard of people snapping the pump plunger when going to 14mm (I think on Nissan patrols). Something to keep in mind, especially with colder and thicker fuel.
Also, what do you mean by "dolmens"? Not something I've heard before
Thanks mate, I'll get it close to that.
High boost on that manifold, yeah I'm not too sure. It's a rubber gasket kind of like a rocker cover gasket that is compressed a certain amount. I'll see how I go. If it leaks then I'll just have to look at changing it.
Yeah as far as intake runners go was only thinking of making them long enough to make it kind of like what the guys with HZs and HDs are doing.
I think radizing the port openings will be the best option, and will work well if I decide to make a bigger plenum in the future. Gotta learn how to tig...
I was thinking of making a new manifold in the future, maybe something with runners. Not 100% sure how I'd seal the ports up, would probably need to get a plate made up with grooves machined for o-rings then weld the rest to that. But that won't work if I radius the ports on the head now. Maybe...
This is how the intake side looks like on the 12ht
Should I be bevelling the inside edge of the outer ports? Or just cleaning up the runners in the head?
And the manifold itself, surely there'd be gains to getting rid of the heater screen and butterfly and having a bigger intake pipe? Obviously...
Cheers @gerg, that makes perfect sense. I did make a template of the head port with paper but it wasn't very precise, definitely less than ideal. Will make one out of card or plastic and match the manifold to the head.
Yeah those gaskets won't be getting used when I put it together, just got...
I'm in the process of porting the head for my 12ht while I get all the other parts organised. Got a quick question for you @gerg, did your exh manifold gasket line up with the edges of the exh ports on the head and manifold (on your 3B)? Mine has about a 3-4mm area that isn't covered by gasket...
Sure will mate, still getting all the parts organised. I've had the original turbo rebuilt by the same company (ufi in Perth). They've put a garret replacement centre in it which is supposed to be better than the celica wheel hybrid that I was originally going to use. That will keep me going...
Will be on a fully rebuilt engine. Alfin pistons, hopefully MLS head gasket, head and hopefully main studs. Also cleaning the ports up in the head.
I'll make sure it's getting enough boost, if it's high enough I'll set up compounds on it.
180kw is approx 240hp, I guess that's nothing to be...
Hi all, I'm starting my 12H-t build (finally) and have had the fuel pump overhauled. I'm not too impressed with their service (no communication or quote and the finished pump rocking up on my doorstep with the bill attached), but here's the specs.
Its been maxed out to 107cc/1000shots at...
Thanks. I've got the local dealer to get someone at the warehouse to look at one and possibly get a pic of it. If they have changed to mls I'll be going genuine for the seals. Fibre gasket possibly won't handle what I have planned. Although that does look like a good quality one as far as fibre...
Bit of a late reply, but wholesale automatics here in oz do heavy duty upgrades to Toyota autos. Things like billet torque converters, valve body's and extra clutch discs. The valve body's have a 3rd and 4th lockup option as well, maybe something worth looking at. I've been doing a bit of...
Ryco Z9 is the one I use on mine here in oz, another one for you to cross reference. From memory the ryco website gives sizes as well. One of the most common here, used on the older ford falcon 6 cyl. motors
You'll probably need a slide hammer to get them. Can be a pain with those types of injectors, but if you can twist them they probably only need a light tap upwards to get them free.
Should be able to use 12v 2h starter. Will need to get a 12v vacuum switch to shut the motor off like they normally do, or fab up a shut down cable to the pump. That and a 12v alternator with the vac pump on the back should be the main things you need to convert it. Maybe tacho and other sensors...
R134a gas can leak through hoses designed for r12 as the molecule is smaller. You'll need to at least get the system pressure tested with nitrogen first. Adapter fittings can be used on the test ports and the drier/filter to convert to 134. If it hasn't been used for a while the compressor front...
