1990 Toyota FJ62 Land Cruiser (Portland, OR)

Bump! I apologize to those waiting for more detailed photos -- we have 5 vehicles and 3 drivers, so a random set of cars are gone each morning  Someone has taken the Cruiser the last few days, but I'll make sure to put a note on it to leave tomorrow morning so I can take some more...

1990 Toyota FJ62 Land Cruiser (Portland, OR)

We bought this ~6 months ago as a toy/project/grocery getter. It showed up in good condition but a bit neglected; I spent a couple months cleaning it up and fixing the minor stuff. It's still missing a few bits, such as a couple bumper caps and exterior trim pieces, but it's a great DD and very...

    Rod Bearings

You could always take an oil sample an send it off to Blackstone for used oil analysis. Small cost and you will find out exactly where any internal damage is happening. Blackstone Laboratories

NO front brakes / NO fluid during bleed - I've searched and searched for the answer

I would at least try closing all of the functioning lines/bleeders and leaving the offender open while pumping the pedal for awhile.

    Chevy Pistons in 2F

Sorry, it was very late and I read your post to say deck the heads :) How thick is the OEM HG? Could you gain some C/R back with a custom-ordered thin HG?

Would quench become a concern with that much milling? What about decking the block instead of the heads?

Hood Shock's are just a 1 Bannana Job

Looks good, I consider this a safety mod after attempting to decapitate myself while working on my Subaru (bumped the hood prop, hood fell). dorcom: the filter/piping is the same as on my 62?

    5.7 Vortec V-8 Swap / 86 FJ60

Elbert, a lack of timing on an OBD-II ECU won't make the truck run rich. It should be idling in closed-loop operation and actively correcting fueling off of the front O2 sensor(s). Also, most modern OBD-II cars use camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. It will throw a code(s) if they...

Got my FJ62's first UOA back from Blackstone...

I kinda went about the whole process backwards. Oiling is a fairly big concern on high power turbo Subarus and a fellow Subaru buddy used Blackstone. He gave me a container and I got curious and sent it in to them. I started reading more about the whole subject on BITOG and went from there...

    Opinions on a new battery

Odysseys will far outperform just about any battery made, bar-none. They are made to meet about every MIL-spec and DOD-spec ever made for batteries... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/files/techbook.pdf ^^^ A nice lil 16 page read about their design and tech

Got my FJ62's first UOA back from Blackstone...

While doing the first oil change as her new owner, I decided to take a sample and send it off for UOA by Blackstone. I am a religious tester on my Subaru and kinda consider myself to be an oil snob. I have no clue what kind of oil was in it, or how long it had been ran for by the PO. Viscosity...
