    Dogs and 60's (pics)

Yup, smart indeed! Our old Bearded Collie, Phoebe (3 very good dogs ago), used to do our taxes….😉

    Factory bar HJ61

I have virtually the same bar on my BJ60, when i got the bar, it had a sticker hidden on the back, inside, from “East Coast Bull Bars, Australia”. It‘s not OEM, but it‘s a great bar! ( I have a milemarker hydraulic winch hidden behind it, mounted to the frame rails, the fairlead is hidden behind...

1984 FJ60 - replacement battery terminals and wiring

Yes, those battery clamps only last about 2-3 decades…. I had similar terminal cracks and while keeping the original cables, replaced the ends with crimped eyes, the last time i installed batteries. Used top end North Star AGM “marine“ batteries, as they also had threaded posts for excellent...

1984 FJ60 - replacement battery terminals and wiring

Ok, you say you have an 84 FJ60 and that its a diesel, and has two batteries. If it is a 1984 Canadian truck, it‘s a BJ60 (F being the designator for gasoline engines, B or H (4 or 6 cylinders) for diesel), they were fitted with a 3B diesel engine, with a 5 speed manual transmission, and the...

    Dogs and 60's (pics)

I recon thats where many of us learnt to drive, years ago, at least in the snow! Apparently the Chute patio is going to be open again this summer, must get the dog and the crusher up there again on a regular basis!

    Gimme a 60s 3B Engine Swap

You need to clean the engine first, anyways, then inspect the external are carefully, look for loose bolts on the cover, then remove the side cover and check/replace its perimeter gasket. First things first!

    Gimme a 60s 3B Engine Swap

I agree with PistonPete. Looks to me like the valve pushrod (side) cover is more than likely the problem.

Are your shocks fully extended? Maybe they are not long enough….

    3b rough starting issue.

Yes, the 3B injectors have a softer nozzle and a harder valve needle so that as they wear they stay sealed when closed. After many, many km the needle just moves down slightly and subsequently the cracking pressure falls slightly. Ultrasonic cleaning is just one minor prep step in rebuilding...

    3b rough starting issue.

What brand? My first set of glow plugs (which was from new) lasted over 12 years as a daily driver, subsequent sets have lasted at least 10 years per set. Don't forget to ALWAYS replace ALL of the plugs together, even if only one fails. If you don’t, then the resistance imbalance will certainly...

    3b rough starting issue.

If your superglow is working, keep it! Its a great system. Bosch GPT-214 (6V, .3ohm) glow plugs are what you should be using, they are high quality and last. they are readily availiable from ebay in australia (ie. BOSCH GLOW PLUG X6 6.0V FOR TOYOTA LANDCRUISER HJ47 HJ75 2H 4.0L | eBay -...

    '89 ARB bullbar on a '84 hj60

AFAIK, the basic frames for all the 60’s (FJ, BJ, HJ) and 62s were the same. If it fit on an 89, you may have to cobble a few brackets but it should be a breeze fitting it. Making stuff fit is half the fun on these rigs, and the best way to learn them! I have an alloy old east coast bullbar that...

HJ60 plugged fuel supply, trouble priming

Yup, black or brown junk/slime means either someone has tried to add waste oil to the fuel tank (😱) or more commonly you have algae/bacteria contaminated fuel, and water in the fuel tank. They live on the oil/water interface (they need water to live, and eat the oil) and eat and reproduce like...

H4 Headlight Options - what do YOU run?

Like OSS said, Hella bulbs certainly seem to last! I have a pair of very clean old 7” Carello headlight optiques (a rough performance par with the good vintage Cibié optiques) with Hella 55/100 H4 bulbs (55w low, 100w high) that have been running well over a decade (i think i put them in in...

Pls Help!- Struggling taking off the rear bumper on my 86 FJ60

The carriage bolts fitted either have rounded their shoulders, or rounded the holes in the bumper. The fasteners are old, and the nuts are probably frozen on the bolts, so… just buck them off, and replace with new when refitting.

    New HJ60 Owner

You can use the frame number in TOYODIY, instead of the VIN, it automatically puts in the missing zero for you.
