Yes, it's a stick. Dunno what series of tranny it has in it though.
Would the motor mounts match up?
Where could I get one of these engines?
a 3L sounds good but again, I'd have to find one for a reasonable price... and at this point in time, that doesn't sound like an easy thing to find...
Done, sorry
Hey, not sure why you assumed surrey but I am in BC. Out in Kelowna. My folks live in surrey. I got an email from sheldon saying they didn't do L series engines and only had HDJ81 drivetrains. That 2L-T is like an 800lb engine so i'm not really worried about weight. I just want...
Holy s***. Those must be used engines were they? Did you have to rebuild the 3.3? Makes me wonder how hard it would be to mate it with the existing tranny and engine mounts
Hey Guys,
I'm in a bad way here. My hunk of crap 2L-T has died and I don't know what to do.
I have an '85 toyota pickup and I'm not sure if I should sell the stupid thing or do an engine swap.
The 2L series engines are pieces of crap... I don't think there are 2 ways about it. So should I...
So with my 2L-T being such a whore to start in the cold I am trying to find some solutions. The biggest problem is when she gets chilly and I'm not rear a plug.
Has anyone tinkered with adding an intake air heater? Doesn't look like there is ANYTHING available aftermarket but I was thinking...
Hey guys,
My 85 2LT is being a massive hunk of s*** and it's on -4
I have a lower rad hose heater in it but the cords are massive turds and, of course, after a month of working it's not doing jack.
Anyway, I think I'm going to have to install a block heater. I'm really not excited...
Awesome project!!! I want to hear more!!! Details!! :D
The dmax weighs about 835lbs and the 3B & 13B-T are right around that weight... almost so close it's scary... so weight won't be a problem.
LOL a Duramax and at small block 400 are on different planets when it comes to torque. The...
That could be...
Ha... -12 is cold for the Okanagan :)
I honestly have no idea. Don't know much about the engine myself as this is the first 2L-T since the 3B :)
There was oil on top of the filter so it's definitely coming from above (the turbo area).
Yeah, the truck was warming up.
So I've got an 85 toyota diesel (2L-T) that has had a tonne of work done to it including a full rebuild and a turbo service as little as 2 years ago.
It's cold here... fxxxing god damn cold.... -12. The truck doesn't like it AT ALL and I had to crank it over about 15 times to get it to start...
Yep, I solved both problems by taking the wheel off. Toyota called this morning saying my new horn contacter plate is in. $17.
Thanks for the replies guys
I have an 85 pickup with a 2L-T diesel
I've been looking through the toyota manuals but they are unhelpful and I'm getting pissed off.
My steering wheel is installed crooked  It's off by about 30 deg. Not a huge problem but it regularly terminates my left signal and it's annoying.
So...
