I have to echo again what NLXTACY is saying, "I am very pleased" with the reduced running temps I am seeing with the stock fan and Orange fan clutch!
And while not cheap, the Orange Fan Clutch is worth it to me as well, to eliminate the frustration I was having overheating at times.
Especially...
- everything lined up and you see the tabs on the end of the pipe slide over the crossmember in the channel created by the heat shield
- Slide the pipe back, and finally FREE without any pipe cutting!
Install in reverse order was very quick and simple!
I can't believe that few inches of...
- this shows pipe hanging over cross member
- The key is shown here where it was scraping by the panhard bar, now that the suspension is drooped enough
- This poor picture shows the dampner attached to the top of the resonator mounting bracket, being above the bumper mounting bracket
- better...
So here are some "poor" pictures..
- First shows the jack stands as high as I dared to go..
- next old and new side by side
- what was left of old resonator
So CDAN was right again!
I jacked the rig up to the highest my Jackstands would go, and it dropped the panhard bar angle just enough to allow the pipe to "twist" enough to let the tabs slide (with some persuasion) between the channel created by the heat shield (body), and the cross member.
In...
Yes i did check everything above, and the window seal was alright.. The heat did not get that high. i was most surpized about the tailgate latch being cooked that badly. Was thinking about adding some additional heat shielding in that back corner, under that channel. It would be easy to add ...
as you can see it seemed to channel the heat right up that channel between the tailgate and Body.. The images of the lock seem to be messed up, but it melted (cooked) all the internal plastic and trapped the striker plate...
After speaking to CDAN in Moab this year on his impressions, i ordered one of these Landtank orange fan clutches, and went back to the stock fan.
My initial impressions is it is running much cooler staying around 180 vs the 190-195 the scan guage showed it running at before . To be fair, my Blue...
i was as surprized as anyone.. did not really notice the light right away as it was just the bottom of the light looked a little bubbled..
but when i went to open the tailgate it would not open!! that is when i saw how cooked it was. The heat seemed to have channeled up that slit between where...
Thanks Dan,
When i sat and stared at it for awhile, it looks like if the panhard bar was out of the way, the flange and last pipe bend would have enough room to clear.. that last bend just before the flange needs the remainder of the pipe on the back side of the axle to be pointing mostly down...
If i cut it, i would cut it at a straight section and just sleeve it and and re-weld. i was just trying to leave it as it was, 1 piece factory original. but it is not sounding worth the effort at this point. Thanks for your reply!
Thanks for the response, i was afraid of that... so the only option other than cutting is to loosen the body mounts and lift the body a bit to get clearance on the passenger side.
I don't really mind cutting off the old one, but would like to put the new one on without cutting... if possible.
My resonator broke in half during Cruise Moab this year.. Drove back to Colorado and it cooked my passenger tail light and tailgate lock. That is all fixed, and got a low mileage stock resonator pipe in good shape to replace the bad one.. However i cannot seem to be able to remove the old...
After re-reading this i meant to say..
we may be able to get an additional vehicle approved for camping, but since it will not be a Large established campground like they use on the Swell (with a pit toilet close by), nothing as elaborate as what the Swell group does will be able to be done...
Hello Jon/All,
The Kokopelli is different from The swell, in that the real limiting factor is the number of camper's.. on the Swell we were limited by our normal Permit limit of 20 Vehicles per trail per day "running the Trails"...
With the Kokopelli the negotiated limit was reached because of...
After seeing this tent in action all week, and seeing how well it stood up to the high winds we encountered for several days on end, i am very impressed. I have been wanting an EZI-AWN T-top tent for awhile, but this one was impressive for the money... a good bang for the buck...
