    1989 4Runner 22RE Cylinder Head Questions

100% use the OEM toyota parts. Get the head gasket kit. They're still available and the best bet for long-term reliability. Yotaparts sells a full small-hose kit for around $200 it's EVERY small hose, some are no longer available from the dealer. These hoses are all molded so you can't use...

1985 Toyota seeking OEM or equivalent parts

Keep looking for a good used one. Even these guys: https://toyota-usa.epc-data.com/4runner/rn60lv/2522/body/8401/84110/ Show it as unavailable / discontinued Best place I've found that will actually search for parts is Cabe Toyota in Long Beach, CA. Good Luck!

    The Hilux Thread

Picked up a 2 for 1 deal. Both are 71s. The one in the foreground is complete other than a seat and bumper and a few little things. That's OK, because the other one is a parts truck. It has no engine, no seat either, no windshield or rear window. It does have a bunch of engine accessories in...

    Builds 1982 Build Thread

That small diameter diagonal is for the Load Sensing Proportioning Valve, it detects how much weight is in the bed and adjusts the pressure to the rear brakes. As for the rest, yes I can tell you all of itbis stock other than springs and shocks, I sold you the truck...

    1980 Pickup Steering Wheel Identification

Your truck is definitely a DLX not SR5 so it's the correct one.

    1980 Pickup Steering Wheel Identification

Seems like the trucks I see for sale are about 50/50, but since steering wheels are very easy to swap, I wouldn't use that as a measure. If you want to sell that steering wheel let me know!

    1983 Short Bed Wiring Connections

You can try coolerman he has lots of wiring parts. While he's primarily Land Cruiser, he does have terminals and shells. http://www.globalsoftware-inc.com/coolerman/fj40/wiringmainframe.htm

    New Project Loaded: 1967 FJ40.

Worked great. Put it all together and bolted it back on the frame. Some grade 8.8 metric hardware and it's good to go. Glad to have something specific I can point to as a "completed" sub-project on the white board. Gives me some motivation!

    New Project Loaded: 1967 FJ40.

Got the arm back together. Cleaned up all the surface rust, figured out how to put it back together, etc. Rather than pay hundreds of dollars for a few parts I decided to reuse everything other than the felt and the cotter pins. The felt pieces bugged me. I tried 2 different hardware stores...

'79 Blue Patina Long Bed - Slow Build

That Toyota CB is way cool and WAY valuable. Does it work? Also those floormats! 100% agree on swapping the transmission. That 4-speed is just OK, but the shifter (at least on mine) is terrible. Especially compared to a W56 in a 85 4Runner.

'79 Blue Patina Long Bed - Slow Build

Wow nice. Welcome to the mini-truck sickness. It's just as bad and just as fun as the Land Cruiser one.

1980 Pickup - 40th birthday gift to myself

Useless, and ironclad contracts. We had a Honda store that we acquired and we had to keep their system up for 2 years before we could shut it off. Hated them.

1980 Pickup - 40th birthday gift to myself

I've done IT work at dealerships for years. CDK and Reynolds green screens, hard-wired to local minicomputers. It's pretty amazing how far it's come. Seeing your old hardware sure brings back some memories. Unsurprisingly, Nissan had the absolute worst software (and still uses Microsoft Access...

Front suspension question for 1985 Pickup

Have fun and do your research. It's 100% worth doing Hy-Steer (Crossover Steering). IFS steering box, at least 4" of lift for the tie rods to clear the oil pan, etc. I used a All-Pro kit and had a local off-road racing / fab shop do the work, because I don't weld.

Probably the number one issue with your heater is the control valve. They're no longer available from anyone, but the later model truck's (84-88) will work with some creative additions. I found this on of all places Reddit, just looking at the pic was enough explanation...
