    Speedometer Needle Snapped Off

Wow. That is reaching WAY back! Probably JBWeld but I have a tough time remembering what I did yesterday. The needle is still on there but I’m going with a Dakota Digital display on it this year. Good luck!

Best Gas Tank Option for ‘78 FJ40

Got the skid plate mounted yesterday. With the tub off it looks like the tank is sitting about an inch high in the rear but I will have to wait to see. It will be easy enough to modify but will affect the hitch receiver.

Best Gas Tank Option for ‘78 FJ40

I just picked up the aluminum skid plate from Jim yesterday and will post some pictures when I get it mounted. As you can see the tank would mount easily from underneath. The skid plate replaces the two aluminum straps and is very sturdy. As a guess it's 1/4" plate. Once the tub is mounted...

Which is the correct Nebula Green??

What a beautiful vehicle in my favorite color. How does the air-conditioning keep up with the heat? I'm contemplating the Vintage Air in my build. Thanks for sharing the pictures and story of your build.

    1964 FJ40 Gas Tank Woes/Options

The Downey tank is nice and I believe Jim is having another batch made. I’ve removed my original 1967 tank and am just going to run the aftermarket one. Picking up the skid plate tomorrow. The submerged fuel pump to the left is something I installed, the center plate is drilled for a fuel...

    Fix or Sell: '67 FJ40

I’ve been trying to come up with a solution for the transfer case linkage and the 5.3 solved it for me yesterday. There’s a little ’L’ shaped bracket on the head to protect the fuel injection rail on the driver’s side that wasn’t needed so I made a bracket out of the pivot on the F engine mount...

More FJ40 skid plates available now!!!

Put me down for a fuel tank skid plate. How do we do this Jim?

    Engine Options?

If you like the Chevy straight six then go for it. Jegs is a good company and stands by their products. I'd also buy the extended warranty, it's good insurance if something is to go wrong. Finding an F or 2F is tough and it will still cost a lot more than that to rebuild. It cost me $2500 15...

    Fix or Sell: '67 FJ40

Column is a 32" keyed / shift / tilt column Speedway sells. I opted for a blemished unpainted one and saved $75. I was painting it anyways so it really didn't matter. The shift indicator was broken but they sent a new one free of charge. They have been great to deal with. The 15" steering...

    Fix or Sell: '67 FJ40

Cutting the output shaft on the 4L60e was sobering. The only thing I had that would cut the steel shaft was a grinder with a cut off blade. I had to come at it from 4 sides to get thru it. Second pic is with the AA shaft and support bearing. That toothed surface just this side of the...

    Fix or Sell: '67 FJ40

Here's some pictures of the brake light switch. It required making a bracket to the side of the pedal that would engage the plunger. I didn't want to tap new threads where the original brake light switch was so it required some mods. The new GM column, that would allow a new smaller diameter...

    Fix or Sell: '67 FJ40

Been plugging away at this thing since January. The 5.3 / 4L60e swap has a ton of little details that have to be addressed but people have been doing it for over 20 years so there is a lot of info out there. If you are contemplating it, don't limit yourself to the info just from FJ40s. People...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Better swing that compass for installation around all that iron.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Got the propeller mount from AA and everything welded in and bolted down. Celebrated with a couple fingers of bourbon my son sent down for Christmas.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Engine mounts were welded in at 3 degrees tilt to the rear and thats how the whole shebang is sitting in there now. Engine is offset 1.5” to the driver’s side. Looks like the steering shaft will work out perfectly running below the power steering pump and above the left mount. That red hue...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Engine mounts welded in. Saginaw box and adapter kit in. Advance Adapters sold me the FJ60 transfer case support/crossmember but it isn’t going to work. Will order the propeller mount. Coolest thing though was being able to adapt my original horn button and guts to the 15” GM 1947 to 1952...

1973 F1.5 Disassembly, assessment and possible rebuild

Glad to see it’s going to a good cause! I enjoyed spending time with you and your son. The Landcruiser community is a good one (not half as weird as the Moto Guzzi community!). It’s definitely an F.5. Dustin (when he was in Tehachapi) gave it to me years ago. Can’t wait to see what you guys...

    FJ40 Gas Tank Options

Jim, I bought one of your tanks from Mark a couple weeks ago. Are any of the skid plates available?

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Got the 5.3 and transmission / transfer case back together finally. Unfortunately I put it together behind the frame with the lift facing the wrong way …. Oh wait. Never mind. Fixed it. Had to remove the rear crossmember. I knew it was going to come out I was just hoping it would clear. Not...
