Got the skid plate mounted yesterday. With the tub off it looks like the tank is sitting about an inch high in the rear but I will have to wait to see. It will be easy enough to modify but will affect the hitch receiver.
I just picked up the aluminum skid plate from Jim yesterday and will post some pictures when I get it mounted. As you can see the tank would mount easily from underneath. The skid plate replaces the two aluminum straps and is very sturdy. As a guess it's 1/4" plate.

The Downey tank is nice and I believe Jim is having another batch made. I’ve removed my original 1967 tank and am just going to run the aftermarket one. Picking up the skid plate tomorrow.

If you like the Chevy straight six then go for it. Jegs is a good company and stands by their products. I'd also buy the extended warranty, it's good insurance if something is to go wrong.

Column is a 32" keyed / shift / tilt column Speedway sells. I opted for a blemished unpainted one and saved $75. I was painting it anyways so it really didn't matter. The shift indicator was broken but they sent a new one free of charge. They have been great to deal with.

Cutting the output shaft on the 4L60e was sobering. The only thing I had that would cut the steel shaft was a grinder with a cut off blade. I had to come at it from 4 sides to get thru it. Second pic is with the AA shaft and support bearing.

Engine mounts were welded in at 3 degrees tilt to the rear and thats how the whole shebang is sitting in there now. Engine is offset 1.5” to the driver’s side. Looks like the steering shaft will work out perfectly running below the power steering pump and above the left mount.

Engine mounts welded in. Saginaw box and adapter kit in. Advance Adapters sold me the FJ60 transfer case support/crossmember but it isn’t going to work. Will order the propeller mount.
Coolest thing though was being able to adapt my original horn button and guts to the 15” GM 1947 to 1952...
