Thanks spdwaver1, So if I am able to recah the zerk with a grease gun the way it is now then I am OK? and no need to re-do it all over again to make it match the FSM illustration?
I changed my front spider on the u-joint (front diff side) yesterday and today I have noticed that grease fitting assembly hole/zerk are not facing in the correct direction per the FSM.
Is this going to cause a problem? or do I need to re-do it again??
Thanks for all your help as usual.
Hi All,
I just replaced my front brake pads 2 weeks ago and I have bled the system and the pedal feel is great.
Today on the way back home I heard a brake squeal/noise coming from the front right so I popped the tire out and everything seemed to be OK.... with the exception that squealers...
Thanks Tools - I think the groan noise I am hearing is coming from the front passenger side...Also I noticed the rig wonders on the highway to the left a bit….oddly enough I had serviced the bearings 2 weeks ago on this side (Only Repack) and replaced the outer and inner on the driver sides as...
Thanks Beno - So I will work on replacing the spider only at this point. Why throw parts at it and I would rather save the $150 if the part is not broken.
Hey Rick - I hope you are doing well and I am sorry to hear that you are on Short Term Disability. Considering all the work load you have...
Thanks Birfmark - But I am also still getting a groaning noise type with a slight vibrations as soon as I hit 40 Miles/Hour and stays with me at all speeds thereafter, so the only logical thing that I have not touched or ever changed since new is the U-joint (over 125K on the ODO now)
Keep in...
Thanks Beno - I am also being told that Toyota have 2 kinds of sleeve yokes...any idea how I can detemine that as well...or is there a toyota universal sleeve yoke that I should go with like the spider??
Thanks beno - I am only going to replace the one in the front that goes to the diff.
Is this going to be an issue if I only do one of them???
The reason I am doing this is that I am getting a front noise even after the outer and inner bearings were replaced on the DS and serviced (repack...
I am going to replace the front drive shaft U-Joint that goes into the front differential and I am being told by the parts guy that there are 2 types of U-joints for the 1997 LX450 ...so how can I determine the accurate one.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Al
Thanks Guys - I retrieved the old seal from the trash and I looked under the black rubber seal rim and there was nothing in there except old grease.
So this thingy indeed belongs to it.
Thanks again now I can sleep in peace knowing that few more careful steps to this project tomorrow and...
Guys,
I am really concerned about this. If this is a part of an inner axle seal like you are stating then why would it be out of the rig and the only work I have done is remove the rotor to replace the bearings??
Do you have a picture of the Inner Axle seal and where does it go?
The...
By the way I am referring to the Oil Seal that goes on the back of the rotor after you have installed the bearing...is this the seal you are referring to as well??
Probably this one came off of the old inner seal when I pulled it out....Thanks I thought I left something off by mistake as this is my first bearing job.
As some of you know I have been working on the front outer and inner bearing this afternoon and after I am done for the day I located this part under the rig and I have no idea where did it come from.
It is spring like loop and it fits in the palm of your hand…I am not sure where did it come...
Thanks guys to all of you for your great feedback and advices.
I have completed the new outer & inner bearings install and the rotor/hub attached are on the spindle and I will complete the torque procedures in the AM.
After that I am on to the brake pads and I should be good to go...
Thanks Guys I am done with the outer now on to the inner but how do you remove that seal first?...
do I just use the round puch bar and hit the inner races to get every thing out ??
Thanks Coax---I need to replace the races as I have seen a score on the outer bearing race so I decided to replace the races and the bearings at the same time.
Also are you saying just use PB balster and try to separate them....if so should I try and wedge a screw driver in between to do so ??
