    Safety note!!! If you have to temporarily convert your 4wd to 2wd make sure to save your CV shaft outer axle stubs... or you will discover that only your brake calipers are keeping your wheels on...

    I’m trying to figure out why just the very inner portion of the axle sheared off… I also have a video and clearly the differential is toast as well… But mechanically speaking I’m wondering what happened ... besides the obvious too much application of the skinny pedal.

    Any of you. Have experience just shearing the snap ring inboard portion of your axles? I went to replace the CV shaft on a friends truck today and the result was the following photos… 1997 Toyota Hilux surf right hand drive.

    Oh and don't ruin the paper insulator on the positive battery connection terminal... it will direct short ... and things will get... interesting. It was fine on my starter, but a buddy neglected his with ... entertaining results... Dan

    Just did this ... new contacts and plunger cost me about $20 (2400 yen) total time from start to finish was about 2 hrs... out, rebuild, back in... http://www.george4wd.taskled.com/starter.html the 1HDT is slightly different than this... but not enough to really matter... the starter mount...

    NV4500 behind 1HD-T

    Since I just overheated my trans yesterday... I too am looking at this little idea... I bought my self some time by cleaning the filter and giving it a full 17 liter fluid douche, but I know I only bought limited time. Looking at options... looking at options. Thank you, Dan
