Still working on this conversion. I've taken about an eight year break...now back to it. I have a set( I think) of 74 axles, well the front is marked, not so sure of the rear. I'll be following these types of threads for similar info.
I have a '66 and had to grind a sacrificial wrench to fit. PB Blaster is another good penetrating fluid. I second the removal of the line at the 'T' fitting tho. I would have done this, in hind sight. This was the first thing I started pouring cash into when I got my '66FJ40, but in...
Oh! 4/77 ...right there. So, they are not '79's like I thought. Are these worth swapping into my '66 and adding the rear discs? I think I got the rear brackets from you a long while back, I think. Well I have some anyway. As I recall, when inspecting the rear axle, I got a count of more...
OK, so I bought these so ling ago that I can't remember if the guy said they were '78 or '79 axles. As I recall, the gear count looked more like 3.7...? than 4.10, which I was originally disappointed in. Now, it's probably a better thing for me. Let me know if there are any other identifying...
I am certainly not accustomed to paying folks to do this kind of thing, and it is decidedly against my principles for even having this Cruiser. However, at this point in life it might just get the thing done and going. I'll check it out and if I can't swing the cash, I gotta hunker down and...
Thanks so much! The stock '66 axles are under it now. I rebuilt the knuckles and all the steer ing parts. This is turning out to be more of a road vehicle now so adding the discs is probably a good idea. I'll look up TorFab. I think Poser is who I got the brackets from several years ago.
Hi! I haven't been here for a few years. I'm at a point in my 66 FJ40/78 running gear(mostly) build that I am considering putting my '79 disc brake front axle under it and modifying the rear of that set to discs.I'm wondering who would be reliable to hire this out. Any info appreciated. I've...
best shot of how the po did mine - 66. This is when it was getting a new rear sill and qtr panel repairs. Standard trailer light fit. About $10-$12 ea. Could be better, but they ain't broke yet.
Kinda ugly compared to Degnol's. I like those. Haven't seen the other pics yet though...
good pun...dorky fits what I did for a spare ignition key for my 66fj40...I got a safe deposit key blank and made one with my chainsaw sharpener and a smaller file. Works good, looks dorky!
I've run one, worked fine. It was on an F motor. I think it will bolt up to a 2F also, but haven't done it. AFAIK the delivery and pressures are the same or real close.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but the weatherstripping set I got from them for my 66 FJ40 fit great, seals well etc. I got the front doors, rear hatch and swing out doors, window felt, wiper and channel. I did get them all a few years back tho. Also, I spent alot of time and effort aligning my doors...
