You're right. I meant to write energy potential (not potential energy), for the exact reason that you mention. Higher octane fuel can be compressed more without autoignition. Typically, engines that run at higher compression are more efficient because they burn fuel more completely. Higher...
I drove for several thousand miles (10-15k) of mixed driving with regular unleaded and then did several thousand miles of very similar mixed driving on premium. I saw the mileage difference on the first tank of premium and it continued. Do I need a larger sample size Mr. Statistician? :beer...
I used to run premium through my 2F. This was 4 or 5 years ago before the whole ethanol fuel really had traction. I noticed that I'd get 2-3 mpg better on premium, and when fuel was in the $2-$3 range, the extra $.20/gal for premium was worth it then. Now that I have a 5.3, I have to run...
I'd love to get a .dxf file (universal CAD drawing file) of the drawings of the side panels. Mine are beyond traceable condition, and I have a waterjet shop down the road that I could bring material and a .dxf to and have the parts cut out for me. That's my reason to have a CAD file for a 2D...
Easiest way to make sliders: fab rock rails for under rocker panels. Decide where you want the supports to mount to the frame, weld fishplates on frame in those locations. Support rock rail on jackstands under rocker panel right where you want them located. Use tube (1.75" round, .120" wall...
I can't help you on this, but I'm very interested to hear the result of this. If the DC shaft was setup correctly, the angle difference between the spring perches and the pinion would be different from early to late 60. Could this be why some people have to c&t and others don't?
I just have the OME heavy 2"-3" lift, or whatever you want to call it. Sway bars removed front and rear. The kit comes complete with limiting shocks (the included shocks limit the down travel...)
I trimmed the valance and fenders when I built my front bumper. I did this so that I could fit a winch and still have a good approach angle. Because of this I've been running 35s with the OME lift and they just barely rub at full stuff up front. In the rear the sidewall just barely rubs on the...
Why don't you mill a pocket so it can't slide out?
edit: I re-read too. You could probably loosen them enough to get over the spring pin and still have the pocket, but I'd go in from the thick side if you really want to slot it.
I have the Downey adaptor and 5.3 with an h42. Stock 3.7 gears and 35s. The h42 has held up incredibly well. I drop the clutch, bounce of the rev limiter in 1st, 2nd and 3rd and my transmission had 260k on it. I have a spare sitting in the garage that I have to rebuild the transfer case on and...
Use glasses anytime you're working under your truck. I fought an eye infection for 3 weeks because I got a small particulate stuck in my cornea when working under my mini-truck. Eye infections are no fun, highly not recommended.
My brother put a 240 pump in his rig last week. Thing is sweet. It has no problem turning his 35s. I can't wait to see the difference it makes on the trail!
