I am used to my old school dash, and I think I would keep it to have the vintage feel in the cruiser. It's just really cool! Why the hell didn't we get them >:[
Haha sorry, for some reason I thought you were from australia... Getting my threads mixed up I guess. I drove from Calgary to Tofino and back this summer on my KLR 650. 5500 km and I took the inside passage ferry. Went right through Victoria, so I probably drove near your neck of the woods.
I would use white lithium grease. Or even something like Dow corning 3, silicone base lubricant. It should need lube even though its near the clutch/pressure plate
And you can't really get the best paint job from rattle can, it can never be a true 2 part so it will be softer and more susceptible to abrasion and fading.... But I would roll paint, so don't listen to me... Like SBG said, as long as its one colour
I recommend using aircraft grade paint stripper, its expensive but it melts everything. Let the stripper do its job, leave it on there for a good 45min to an hour. Then find a chipped or broker wood chisel and sharpen it and make it nice and flat. 3/4 inch works well, also having a larger sharp...
