    Leaf springs HZJ79

My last contact was about a year and a half ago. At that time they had no alternatives for me. Maybe that has changed. I will get in contact with them again soon. Thanks for all the info.

Determining cost per mile/km when driving your truck

If it's of any value to you ( I live in Europe) ....I've kept track of the cost of my HZJ73 starting in April in 2002 and over a distance of 190.000 kms. I bought the rig in 1996 when it was almost 1 year old. In total I've covered over 300.000 kms. I do all the maintenance myself, except the...

    Leaf springs HZJ79

Yep, I'm refering to the A-shaped part that connects to the towhitch. The inspector said they tend to develop cracks at the lower side of the beam near the centre (right in between the axle and the towhitch) when towed by certain (leafsprung) vehicles like the landcruiser because they have a...

    Leaf springs HZJ79

Rosco, Thanks for the info. Will have to dig into the matter. One of the reasons I want parabolics is that I often tow our caravan. The softer parabolics then are an advantage because the loads on the beams of the caravan are less when driving on bad roads. It's well known over here that...

    Leaf springs HZJ79

Rosco, Yes, I indicated it was for my HZJ73 but the answer (by Danielle Lane) was that they only provided springs for the models mentioned on their website. Then I asked or they were willing/able to provide a custom made set but the answer then was that they had their springs manufactured abroad...

    Leaf springs HZJ79

I'm afraid Heystee no longer carries springs for Landcruisers. He used to and I was a very happy customer. Bought a set of parabolics several years ago. Then, during a trip in the Sahara, I damaged the rear springs. Returning home I wanted to buy a new set just to find out he no longer sold...

    Local Diesel Prices

:(Don't understand the problem you guys have regarding the fuelprices.... Taking into account I also have to pay a monthly roadtax (they call it owners tax) of a 170 USD, I think you're driving a cruiser virtually for free...:grinpimp:

    Local Diesel Prices

Gas is much more expensive. At the same station (cheapest in the area) it's 1 euro 65 cents per litre for the lowest grade. That is equal to 7 USD 37 cents per gallon. Bear in mind that gas prices have dropped as well during the last week or so.

    Local Diesel Prices

In the Netherlands dieselprices have dropped a bit this week. At this moment (cheapest station in the area) 1Euro 32 cents/litre or 5,89 USD / Gallon

Who has an open 24V HZJ75 alternator around?

Had the old alternator of my HZJ73 (1HZ engine 24 V) which I replaced by a new one some time ago still laying around. It was not open but it is now ;-) The wirethickness of stator wire is 0.9 millimeter, insulation removed.

    Info decals in other languages

I don't know about other countries, but here in the Netherlands I think the decals on the 70 series cruisers are identical to the ones in the English language.

    70 series dependability?

Just to add my two cents...I own a HZJ73 for almost 20 years now. Bought it when it was less than a year old with just a few kms on the ODO. The owner regarded it to be too uncomfortable and wanted to get rid of yet. Bought it for a lot less than newprice. A few years later I replaced the...

Did an oil change... now it smokes...

Can it be the rig has been smoking before the oilchange without you noticing it? Grey smoke in general points to unburned/badly burned fuel. So might be a problem with the fuelsystem (bad timing, bad injectors, problem with the IP) rather than a problem related to the oilchange. If oil is...

    LJ 78 electrical gremlin

Sorry to say, but this is exactly what I observed shortly before I had to replace the alternator on my HZJ73. At first the lights came on for short intervals, but after some days they stayed on. The alternator was beyond repair, the rotor was damaged.:bang: Very expensive to replace, but...

    Trying to help....problem solved......YESSSS

Well it looks as if there will be a happy end to this story. There was a posting on the Dutch Landcruiserclub forum that there had been an issue about a missing invoice that should have been made available by TPI and attached to the package with parts but now that has been solved and the guy...

    Trying to help....problem solved......YESSSS

Larry, Have not had any contact with Bob, but got informed about half an hour ago that the guy who asked for help received an email out of the blue from TPI that the ordered parts were ready for shipment and waiting for a pick up. So hopefully his problems are over. Don't know or Bob has read...

    Trying to help....problem solved......YESSSS

Larry, Thanks for your effort. I'll have to wait and see what happens. It's not my intention to bash on TPI, certainly not. All I want is to help my fellow member who has payed for parts he still has not received. It is possible all is just a misunderstanding, but because he obviously ran out of...

    Trying to help....problem solved......YESSSS

This is a kind of a long shot and probably not posted in the right section but I want to give it a try. One of the members of the Dutch Landcruiserclub is updating his cruiser. Needed some difficult to get parts and finally found them in the USA. So he ordered those parts and payed for them...

DMV demands I prove my german LJ73 is a 1988 or no reggy?!

If you get no response from the Toyota dealer you asked for help, would it help if you got a letter from a European Toyota dealer? If so I can try to help. The staff at the local dealer over here is very friendly and helpfull. If you would send me the VIN I can ask them or they are willing to...
