I took out my ashtray and trim piece/bucket leaving just a hole in the dash. A uniden Pro 520 xl fits in there perfectly. I bought two small "L" brackets to mount it with. I drilled holes in the dash (inside where the trim piece would cover them up) and mounted the CB at an angle pointing up...

Don't worry about your rig not being "trail ready", you would not believe how I wheeled mine before it was as "trail ready" as it is now-a-days.
You'll be suprised what your rig can do in stock or near-stock form.
Don't pack a lot of food either. We will have plenty for lunch and dinner...
