Hi All!
I'm looking for a pair of the belt-rail system corner retainers for my JF40.
Wife & I moved Aug/Sept and having looked for and not finding them I'm hoping someone here (on the off chance) might have a "spare" pair they would be willing to part with.
Thanks!
Sure enough, when I removed the top I could tell the front fork was not over the sleeve.
Cleaned up both surfaces again. Applied another round of rtv and reinstalled the top, watching carefully so the forks dropped onto the sleeves. Then checked again to see the slots lined up, and tried the...
Thanks for that info Pin_Head
I tried moving that slot into place and it wasn't having it.
It would move maybe a 1/4" in the other>direction,
but won't line up with the two.
In process of removing the top now
The 60 top is different in layout than the 40 top.
That is to say what's under/attached to the top: the shift roll bars.
Is it certain when swapping the 40 top onto the 60 top..
there won't be any issue??
As I look here on SOR, there seems to be a distinct difference on the reverse shift head.
Without the shifter installed..
Motor rotates forward going forward,
and backward going backward.
With the shifter, I can move from what seems to be first, over to the spring
loaded pin for reverse, but it will not actually drop into reverse.
What next please :frown:
Stuck in Neutral
So I've installed the old H42 top plate from my '76 40, onto the other H42 which came out of a 60.
The tops did inter-change, and it's all installed in the truck now.
My old 40 one was steel; the new 60 was aluminum.
Try as I might, the thang don't want to shift into any gear...

Very easy mod and probably what you're after :D
One more thing of concern which makes me wonder whether a simple swap can happen is the sensor on the top. They are located in different spots, on the two tops.
Thanks for the reply. I don't understand why you can't see the pic's.
I guess my other question would be, and or hope, the shift forks underneath will simply "line up" as need be.
