    FJ40 28 gallon fuel tank

I plan on building a roll cage so my seating will be built into it. If I didn't have a roll cage then yes it would be a bit of an issue. I am not too concerned with losing the tool box because I have plans for another built into the bed of the fj40. As far as the rear tank, I don't like the idea...

    FJ40 28 gallon fuel tank

That is an option I will have to look into. Haven't thought about it.

    FJ40 28 gallon fuel tank

I am looking to install a longe range fuel tank in my 1969 fj40. I first did a search in the forums and did not find an answer to my question. The 28 gallon long range fuel tank that man-a-fre sells would be ideal for me, however it does not fit in the 69 as is. It's the one that fits under...

    Seeking Wisdom

We lifted my body off with four guys. You could do it with three but make sure they are some big boys. Don't bother saving your mounting bolts. I had to cut most of mine and the cruisers body and frame was in descent shape. I ended up buying new hardware and made my own body mounts from boat...

    FJ-55 Body Mounts

I ended up going to the boat shop and purchasing those boat rollers. Polyurethane I believe. I know its not stock but I was able to cut them to the size I needed and it was cheep. This was also on an 1969 FJ40. They are holding up just fine.

    co2 tank vs.Nitrogen

I use nitrogen myself. The welding shop I go to has both co2 and nitrogen readily available for around the same price. The setup cost initially was the around the same price also. The main reason I went with nitrogen is I also offroad race and the truck uses nitrogen filled shocks. When you fill...

    Home Built First Aid kit

I am an EMT and my suggestion would be to only carry what you know how to use in a first aid situation. You only want to do things that are within your scope of knowledge. Thats the best way not to hurt anyone or yourself.

    Sandbags

All great ideas. I have not heard of a sand ladder. You have a pic of one? We don't have much room at all on the race truck, that's why the sand bag worked out great. The race we just won this weekend was the Baja 1000. That also gave us the points championship for the SCORE offroad series...

to convert or not to convert?

I went with the SBC. I blew my 2f motor and had to make the same decision. I would have stayed with the 2f but it would have cost me more to do so. My rig is not a daily driver and I had the time and help to do the swap. I believe it all depends on what type of driving you do and what resources...

    Sandbags

I just completed and won the Baja 1000 which I owe a good portion of our success to sandbags. We were stuck in some pretty nasty silt beds when I saw a sandbag on the ground. It just clicked. I filled it up then placed it under the rear tire that we had jacked up. It worked as good as a rock...

It's true. I noticed the difference after rolling both engines around my garage during a swap.

    Portable Air Compressors

Regarding CO2 and the psi changing with temperature. For every 17 degrees of temperature change there is a change of about 1 psi. This is usually not a big deal with offroading. I also offroad race and we use nitrogen. The main reason is our shocks use nitrogen. You can also run your air tools...

    Motor Mounts

I have used SOR motormounts in the past since the are close to me and I can pick them up. Yes, SOR is always a little more but their product always seems to work good and fits. I can't say anything about any other brand of motormounts since I have not tried them. I wouldn't be opposed to trying...

    I need help!

I also agree that if it was 180 degrees off it wouldn't even run. It would just pop. I had a similar problem with my cruiser. If the carburetor is new and working properly I would then check my fuel lines. If they are old you might want to replace them. Look for weak lines that could colapse...

    kill switch

The painless wiring kit I put in has you run the coil wire to ignition through the fuse block. The advantage to this is I just pull the fuse when I leave the cruiser. I made sure to scratch out the label on the fuse block that says coil. I know someone can just put in another fuse but first they...

Any one completly rewire there fj40 with painless kit

I rewired my cruiser with a painless fuse block. Overall a positive experience. The narrative that comes with the fuse block confused me a little bit but I just looked at the fuse block and wiring diagram and figured it out. I guess I'm a visual learner. Good luck.
