I'm finally getting around to rebuilding my 1972 FJ40 3 Speed Transmission and Transfer Case and I think my transfer case low speed output gear (OEM # 36204-60010) might be toast. The gear teeth look fine but the bushing is cracked and where the gear is riveted together there is a little play...

Agreed but what's the fun it that? Plus the Hex heads on the ACE Hardware bolts would probably be 13mm. I did send an email to @davework which I think is Overland Metric to get some of his tasty Marine Grade Stainless hardware but haven't heard anything back yet. I'll also send him a note...
I've searched for FJ40 Running Board Bolt Kits as well with no luck. I read through the entire "Bolt thread" and there is no mention of bolts for the late 1972-1978 style running boards. So, based on what I removed from my June '72 FJ40 with the actual diamond plate welded on to the running...
I was having similar starter issues and after checking ever possible connection, ground, fuse, etc., it turned out there was a short in the ignition wire where it connected to the starter. Replaced the connection and problem solved.
Out with the old and in with the new... Replaced the original FJ40 starter with a Toyota Remanufactured FJ60 gear reduction Starter.
