    Question on installing Bilstein shocks.

After calling Bilstein, they say not to re use the shouldered washer. The two new rubber grommets have male ends on each, those fit into the mounting hole, keeping the shock centered.

    Question on installing Bilstein shocks.

I understand the 2 normal washers. The rear of the fj has a third washer. It fits up inside the mounting location. It has a shoulder to it the keeps the shock centered going through the mount. Do you re use that or not?

    Question on installing Bilstein shocks.

Im installing Bilstein 5100s on my 2007 fj. When I took the rear shock, it had a third metal washer that fit into the mounting hole where the shock goes, it has somewhat of a shoulder to fit into the hole. Are you suppose to use that with the new shock, 2 new washers and 2 rubber grommets? Or...

My 69 40 long term project!

I do have lots of pics of the progress. I dont think I have any of the frame work when I had it on the frame rack. The frame is back in spec, if not closer than when it was new. I will look around and see if I can dig up some old pics of the repair process.

My 69 40 long term project!

Bought this back in 2006. Spent $1500.00 on it, it ran when I bought it. It had the normal break issues and some minor rust. It also had some frame damage, Ithink it had at least three hard wrecks. Both doors were misaligned badly and the rear doors and hatch had problems. I have been working on...

    Tap Wrench

I bought a set of tap sockets from snap-on, they work great, especially if you don't have a lot of room for the tap handle. I think it has eight different sockets designed to fit over the taps. The price wasn't bad, even though they were snap-on.

Brake bleeding and adjuxtment on 69 fj40

Agree with fj404life! I replaced all my wheel cylinders on my 69fj and had a hard time getting a good pedal. After wearing out all my friends legs pumping the pedal while I bled them, I ended up buying a hand pump that I could put on each bleeder. Just make sure to watch the brake fluid level...

Questions on "69" rear barn door hinges?

The hinges on the barn doors that go on the back of a 69 fj40, are they suppose to be loose, have play in them? Seems like mine have alot of play where the pin goes through the hinge! Are they rebuildable? Thanks for any help.

    JT Outfitters Sucks

Maybe we should have an area where we can put the names of the places that are good to buy from. I have used a couple well know suppliers and have been very happy with shipping and parts quality. I am in the middle of a restoation and at some point will need to order alot of parts, so I think...

I have one and as stated above, needs to be placed in the correct spots! I have used mine in the snow and has worked very well. 69 axle disc conversion front and rear

I am also interested in this. I have a 69 fj40 and have researched until I am blue in the face! Cost, ease of conversion, parts availability. I am at the point to do this and before I paint would like to figure out if cutting the brace off the firewall is what I need to do! Might add, cutting...
