Has anyone heard from @ToyotaMatt recently? I placed an order on 12/29/23 (with confirmation email) but have not received it yet. I have reached out via the VintageTEQ website, Gmail, and DM over the last couple of weeks but have not received a response. Is he ok?
Have you pulled the clutch inspection cover and looked inside? What I thought was a rear main seal leak was actually an oil pan leak under the main bearing area. The key giveaway was a dry flywheel.

I apologize for any confusion. The online parts catalog I order from occasionally has that as a seal from 8/78 to 1/80. My production date is 8/78. I took a chance and got lucky. It was match to what I removed and fit perfectly.
I pretty much performed all of your above work plan in February / March of this year on my 1978 FJ40. Clutch/rear main seal/transfer case seals/oil pan and pan gasket/engine mounts due to multiple leaks that had been worsening over the years. I had a very, very difficult time getting the oil...
As I have taken things apart (driveshafts, oil pan, transmission from bell housing, etc) I have noticed odd bolts and nuts are much looser than others. No rhyme or reason. I will be embracing the blue and green threadlocker as I re-install. Rust is not a factor as it’s been in AZ 99% of its...
Eventually I was able to get it off though it was slightly mangled. I used a small bottle jack on the passenger side to push on it which loosened the pan on that side and around the bearing caps. Driver side was still firmly attached. Access to tap in a putty knife is very limited. After...
Well then… I have a stock 1978 FJ40. I am in the process of changing the rear main seal/clutch. Tired of the mess on the garage floor. I am also changing the oil pan seal… maybe original maybe not. Whatever the case it’s stuck on like nobody’s business. It won’t budge… I’ve used a putty...
I have an aftermarket (CSF) radiator in my 78 FJ40 and had the exact problem you are having. Plastic plug effectively fell apart and I was never able to find an exact replacement. I ended up using a stainless M12 button head socket cap screw and a rubber o-ring. No issues, no leaks.
**** As of 7/24, Tires and Wheels have been picked up and are no longer available. Thank you! ****
Hello. I have a set of 5 wheels with lugnuts and rear center caps that I removed from my FJ40. Wheels are 15 x 8 "Unique" brand purchased from Discount Tire. 3.5in backspacing so they will...
