    Windshield Wiper Queery?

Before getting into the question perplexing me, please allow me to report that both me and the 1987 FJ 60 purchased brand new from a Toyota Dealer in 19887 are doing just fine. Why only yesterday, I made the 95 mile round trip journey to Taos NM and back home to the Colorado border.. Top speed...

    Front Axle Repair Manual Question???

Thank you very much. Why SOR does not include this part with the front axle manual they sell is a mystery.

    Front Axle Repair Manual Question???

Does anyone else have this manual? I just received it and am wondering why it does not include the Aisin Locking Hubs. My copy ends on Page 6-18. The diagrams such as Figure 6-40 and Figure 6-2 assume full time fron axles engagement. What happened to the locking hubs? Is there another manual...

    Front End Work Queery?

I guess it is necessary. Sorry no one wanted to share information. I know it hard to explain when someone lacks knowledge.

    Front End Work Queery?

It has been a while since I last visited with you guys. I have a question and hope someone is willing to opine. It seems the driver's side front wheel bearings need to be replaced. I plan to replace the disc rotor, caliper and wheel bearings. I plan to use SORs disc brake kit for seals and...

    GUTLESS up hills only

Well, you know, up a long steep grade in a 60 means getting in touch with your patience. Often thought of JATO rocket strapped to the roof rack.

What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Mine sat most of the winter. Just put new tires on; Falken Wildpeak AT3s, 235/85R16. Getting ready for another irrigation season as "Ditch Rider". This irrigation system has been around since 1853. The early Ditch Riders were on horseback, hence the title. My old 60 is the official Ditch Rider...

    Driving with the Choke Pulled

The biggest hassle is valet parking attendants who have never seen a manual choke trying to start when the weather is cold. I had to leave a sign attached to the steering wheel, in English and Spanish, explaining how to start my 60.

    31"s to 33"s regear?

I regeared my 60 to 4.56 when I went with 235/85/16 tires (about 32 inches OA). I have the H55 tranny. In retrospect 4.11s probably would have been sufficient. However, a lot depends on your driving. There are many steep mountain grades here so the 4.56 does come in handy. If I lived in flatter...

    Which Fuse Is It?

First off, a Happy New Year to all of you. Now, anyone know which fuse handles the interior fan for heating, defrosting and cooling? I cannot find it listed in the Owner's Manual and have not found one blown. It might be the fan motor leads are loose but it would be nice to know which fuse...

    Which oil are you using?

Castrol 10W-40, year around. Used 20W-50 in southern California. Thinking I might go to 10W-30 this Fall for Winter.

    Window Cranking Queery

Godwin and Output, thanks for the advice. I will give it a whirl.

    Window Cranking Queery

I am guessing that to remove the glass, regulator and scissors, thhe bolts are removed and the assembly slides up and out from between the two haves of the door body? Never done this before but it cannot be too difficult, right? Just asking for the benefit of other's experience.

    Window Cranking Queery

That is a solution I never would have thought of. Thank you for the suggestion. Apparently, the regulator needs to come out anyway so that might be a good interim fix until I find a replacement part.

    Window Cranking Queery

I tried that- crank and push from the bottom of the glass. It will move up about four inches and then stops. The scissor's rollers appear to be at the end of the track. Not sure if that is important. At this point the glass will go no further up but will roll down. I just want to get the glass...

    Window Cranking Queery

Neither the Driver's or Passenger side windows will crank up. I pulled the Passenger side panel off and am wondering if there is way to get the glass up there to stay until I have time for a new regulator. I can get the Passenger window up about four inches from the bottom and then it stops...

    Should I trade my 80 for a 60?

I agree with Trapper50. Unless your wife came of age during the 1940s or 1950s with manual chokes and a wide ratio manual transmission while stomping on the clutch pedal, I would stick with something more comforatable. Years ago, my wife (who is now in her late 60s) had to DD our 60. She hated...
