Even dumber question then
When testing for drain - I have a multimeter - how would I see is there is current / flow draining? What setting and what indicators on the meter? Thanks for mercy.
Thanks -
I noticed the new battery would not turn the engine so I put the charger on it - started fine - a few times then died after being parked - does the fact that I dropped in the battery and the engine carnked slow and would not start indicate anything? or just dumb bad luck?
OK - I have a FJ40 1974 all stock 6 cyl. It sat for about 2 weeks with an old battery and that was that - no juice and could not take a charge. I bought a new battery - gave it a charge for about 45 min on a charger and it started with no problems. I parked it for three days and the battery...
OK-First is my FJ40 (74) and then my 1991 Toyota truck xcab V6. I am looking fo rnew headlights for both. Something bright and good. I have been eyeballing Hellas but does not have to be them. Just something easy to install as a relacement for factory and bright. Easy to intsall is always nice...
I have a 1991 Toyota xcab pickup, V6, and the headlights are getting pretty weak. I was thinking about getting new headlights for it, possibly Hellas. I am looking for something nice and bright, good for winters in the mountains. Where is a good spot to order them, and how do I ensure they...
I bought a grease gun to lube up my 74 FJ40 (all stock). I notice that I can put the attach the gun to the zerk (not sure of the spelling) but once on it will not come off. I have to yank the daylights out of the thing to remove it. Are there different size fittings? If so, what is stock on...
a few spots might be :
landcruiserparts.net
sor.com (spector off road)
also - cool cruisers of texas, man-o-free, summit racing, jt outfitters are all places you may want to book mark for future use - I use sor a lot - they ship quick and have a club sor that costs 39 a year but saves you...
Actually - just one wheel. I have four on the cruiser and need a spare (since I managed ti find a spare tire rack) I am running 32s on the cruiser. the wheels on it are black and look like what I see described as white spoke wheels (only these are black). Does anyone know where / how to find...
I have tuffy w/ cd
It works pretty well - really like the console since there is no place in the cruiser to lock up stuff. The cd player does skip if I hit a bump - som cds more than other. Yes, it is annoying. One thing (not by master plan) that I did was buy a radio deck that had a mini...
74 FJ40 still running poor despite everyone's help. Here is where I am. Thing runs fine. Stop for 1/2 hour and restart it. It won't idle without full choke but runs fine at speed (rule out filter plugged). I think low idle jet. End up replacing tank (had a hole - different story) all fuel lines...
74 FJ 40 idling bad - actually stalls without choke - but OK at speed. It isn't the fuel lines, carb, pump, filter - can the EGR caus eit to idle so bad it dies? What do I do about that?
OK - Cruiser (CA 74 FJ40) running fine. Stop for 1/2 hour and only run with full choke - stalls at idle -- Here is what I have replaced since: Fuel tank (different story - had a hole) All fuel lines - fuel filters (run2) - pump is working OK (fills carb bowls fine) and placed rebuilt carb on...
the painless kits are pretty nice if you are wiring the whole thing. They have all the connectors ect / new fuse block. There was just a thread here (try a search) saying that you can get the same stuff for less money than a pianless kit -- SOR / CCOT both carry painless
OK-FJ40 1974 w/ F engine is running fine. Park it for 1/2 Hr and it will now only run w/ full choke - stalls without it. Runs fine at speed - stalls at stop signs. So I replaced fuel tank (planned replacement for hole) replaced all fuel lines (pressure side from tank to carb) blew out all...
It is at idle, stop signs ect that it stalls - thought it was the low idle jet but with new carb that should be ruled out -- is the fuel cut solenoid the magnetic link? That is connected from the carb - it attaches just above the block and goes through the firewall.
OK - I have been going through my 74 FJ40 part by part. It was stalling at idle if the choke was not pulled out all the way. This came on suddenly after it was parked for a half hour. I replaced the tank (had a hole) fuel lines, blew out fuel lines with air, filter, and eventually the carb...
