    My mileage numbers are in...

The auto definitely eats a little more gas and that's only a small part of why I'll be happy when I get my manual in.

Personally I'd just save a bit more cash and go Detroit. They can take a major beating.

    Wristy's 1980 Meatmobile build up

That Misfits skull looks good with the glow in the dark paint, I'm almost thinking about putting one on the back of my cherry white 4Runner :grinpimp:

tranny variations questions...86' pick up tranny into 89' 4runner

As far as I've understood it is after 1983 The only real differences are whether the trans. came from behind a carbed/efi truck, and if the vehicle had ADD or not (1990 or later and not all trucks had it). You will want to make sure that you get a trans that is top shift if yours it, or vice versa.

    4Wheel Drive Binding

Maybe a grenaded ring and pinion in the front? I would get on soft ground and lock the hubs in and try to drive it in 2wd to see if there is anybinding going on up front with just locked hubs. It'll become obvious very fast.

    '87 4Runner 0" lift spring

If that FJ40 does anywhere near as well as my old FJ60 w/2F engine saving gas in almost any other Toyota will not be an issue

    Need a Rebuilt 22R...

There are a few guys I know from local Colorado message boards that have had great luck with www.toyotacarpart.com That's who I planned to go through but money and the need for a 5 speed swap pushed me into buying a used engine. At this point though, I'm finally making enough money where I...

It kind of looks like a big angry bullfrog with that square cattle killer on it. I like it.

    Wristy's 1980 Meatmobile build up

There are a lot of manufacturers that make stock length springs that are stiff by nature because they are very short (Toyota front and rear) and are supposed to provide lift. Those springs will almost always have a vertical shackle angle. I've had Superlift springs, Pro-comps springs, and 53...

    FAQ Submission Thread

I found some quality info on swapping brake parts between IFS trucks and making it work right..... http://expeditionportal.com/forum/sh...?t=3033&page=4 I think this could definitely help some people.

    Dumb question but.....

That thing is worth $400 for sure. I paid $1000 for my 84 4Runner in similar (RUST) condition to that. It ran like a top so I didn't mind all the rust. That is not an easy vehicle to come across, rusty or not. One thing about it though, is check the frame rails really well. Bring a hammer...

    Timing Chain Question

Wow long day at work so that math is killing me right now but I will share my experience. I had an 84 4Runner. It had a 22r but a newer (86-95 I believe) head. I bought a timing chain kit at NAPA. Part of the kit was alright. I ended up having to -I Think- use the lower sprocket made for my...

    Body Lift Removal

I tell you what, I live in CO and sometime in the next six months I will be swapping a 5speed into my truck and would probably be willing to swap my hardware with your bodylift. My truck is nice and clean so the bolts shouldn't be a problem to get out or install. I'll keep you in mind and let...

    94 4runner solid axle project

35's without question. The smallest tire I would run would be a 34x10.5 r15 LTB. P.S. in regards to bracing the driver's side for the steering box, read this all the way through Crossover Steering

    Transmission id?

I looked at Marlins site for around 30 minutes (of course I got sidetracked by bumpers for a few minutes) and didn't find anything about the id plate. I also couldn't make a distinct recognition by any of the pics. I think ADD started in 1990 so this truck could very well be an ADD truck. I...

    Transmission id?

Well unless I'm way off in left field a g58 comes with a chain driven transfer case and cannot be adapted to a gear drive. Maybe I misunderstood what I read on the subject. I plan on gearing a transfer case if I do a 5speed swap so a chain drive case won't do anything for me.

    Transmission id?

Can anybody ID this transmission by these two pictures? It is a little bit of a travel for me to go look at it and basically I just want to make sure it's not a G58 out of an ADD truck if possible. I've been searching and I'll keep searching to see if I can find what the codes on the plate...

More timing chain questions...where to seal

Anywhere a gasket isn't used would be correct. I actually did my last one entirely with FIPK (not reccomended) and it worked just fine. I put it on and let it set up for about 15 minutes before install, not sure if it helps or if it's a bad idea but it becomes a lot less liquid-ish.
