Bye bye F engine, welcome 2F!

Hallo everybody. Here there are some news: the engine is down. I began to think about buying some new pieces and I looked at the clutch group. The bell is not a problem, the clutch disk neither, since I'll buy a new one. The push clutch are different: one has 6 bolts and the other 9...

Bye bye F engine, welcome 2F!

Hi everybody! That's what happened in the last days: I talked to some mates who are helping me in the work and I decided to put the engine on as it is now. I talked also to the old owner who told me that everything should run fine, oil filter and sparks are new and he suggested to put the engine...

Bye bye F engine, welcome 2F!

Ooops, I forgot a thing: now I run a 5 speed gearbox coming from a HJ 61 (to put it on I modified the old gear bell that was coupled with a 3 speed gearbox)and I would like to keep it. I tried the gear bell of the new engine and seems to be coupled with that kind of gearbox, is it possible? The...

Bye bye F engine, welcome 2F!

Thousand thanks for your help! I would like to do all that thing in the easiest and cheapest way, so I'm not convinced about the idea of opening the two engines and using parts of each. About the new parts, you're right, I'd better refresh everything possible, but consider that here in Italy...

Bye bye F engine, welcome 2F!

Hi everybody, I decided to replace my old, tired stock F engine with a 2F I bought a couple of years ago. My car is a 1972 FJ, the 2F comes from a early 1979 FJ. Actually I have a 5 gears H55F gearbox and I would keep running it; fortunately I noticed that the 2F was probably coupled with...

    Soft top!?!?

Thanks everybody for your answers! I tought to buy the stuff in the US becouse change Euro/Dollar in pretty good right now and could make me save some money. Ge-top are very nice but have a couple of problems to me: they have not two pieces soft doors and unfortunately they seem to be quite...

    Soft top!?!?

I'm looking for a cheap soft top for my FJ, including two pieces soft doors. I've had a look at some web sites and I found something (Specter Off-Road Land Cruiser Parts - Page 269 Bestop Supertop, Bestop Supertop, Tigertop and Traditional Bikini soft tops for Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. -...

    Oil for air shocks

Hey, wait a minute! Now that you make me thing about that, I bought a lot of things from them just a few months ago (two anti-rock bars, one winch and a couple of shocks), I surely can ask them a simple question...;);p

    Oil for air shocks

I bought the shocks there: Down South Motorsports - Home They're very kind and easy-going, I asked them about oil capacity but they still haven't answered. I could send an email to Polyperformance too, but I've never bought nothing from them (I have their N2 kit but I bought it from another...

    Oil for air shocks

I didn't buy the shocks there, do you think that they will answer me as same? About anti-rock: by now I put only the rear one; I still have to try it in offroad drive, but I have to say that driving on road car's behaviour, specially in wheel, got much better, rolling descreased and the car...

    Oil for air shocks

Hallo everybody, I've got a question for you: since my air shocked FJ has some rolling problems, I want to verify the correct setting of oil level. I took all oil out from one of the shocks and there was about 300cc; does anybody know if this is enought? Here...

    Easy engine swapping

Hello everybody, I've got a simple question for you! I found a 2F engine to substitute my F, the price is quite good (only a few hundreds euros) and the swapping should be very easy. The question is: what do I have exactly to do or modify to put this 2F in my FJ??? (car's year 1973...

    Outboaring shocks

My shocks are really close to 90° but if you want to put them between frame and wheels this is probably the only way. Infact in compression they are so close to the frame on a side and so close to wheel on the other side and if you move the shock toward inside or outside you will hit for sure...

Builds Trail buggy FJ40 tear down and build up. v2.0

In these days (tought I don't have muche time...) I'm putting on the rear antirock bar; in a couple of weeks I'll try again the car in offroad driving, I'll try to add some oil before that. Thank you again for your suggestion, I'll let you know!!! Francesco
