Thank you both! I haven been helping a family member deal with a sudden cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately it was caught too late and we are just working to make sure they are comfortable. :( One of those terrible life lessons on how fast things can change and to not take your time with your family...
A project frozen in time:
First time I have laid eyes on it in a few weeks. Life can change very very quick. It was good to see the old steed again though. Future drives in it are good thoughts and goals to hold onto right now.
12V OEM number was 90981-15004 . We used to offer a high wattage yellow 24v bulb but Koito discontinued it. I am not sure they still offer a yellow 12v bulb. :(
It’s an awesome thing in fact. :) No need for a body lift! Mods to a tranny hump is the easiest route for sure. Not that big of a deal in the context of cruiser projects. I am exploring a fiberglass version of a taller hump as well.
TPS can definitely get out of whack .
I had some erratic rpms on my FJ62 when my coolant EFI sensor started to die. Computer didn't know what temp the engine was at anymore.
If it's not the TPS or any of the sensors (from checking with the ohm meter), sometimes looking for a bad connection...
I put on a new pad about 3 years ago and its already showing signs of cracking which is bummer. It's not like we are getting baked in sun and heat in Seattle a lot of the time. :p
Pedal is within spec. Plan now is to extend the pushrod so I can get the adjustments to factory spec. I also have parts on the way to extend the t-case shifter rod.
I think what @ChaserFJ60 proposed would be the best solution for most and clean. Bolt on adapter would be slick! I would imagine trimming down those cooling fins would be easy so it would tuck in the hole better.
I haven’t gotten to this project yet. I need to soon. Last one I bought from SOR (well over 10 years ago) and I had to cut it. I would like to avoid that this time.
I'll confirm the pedal part of the issue. I have no hump on so I can see everything moving from the seat. :) Engagement seems almost instantaneous with pedal push so likely within factory spec, but I'll go check.
This all boils down to the 4speed swap. Using 4 speed clutch system with a early...
I have about 15mm of travel to the pressure plate. I think that is too much the more I messed with it. I am at about the end of the pushrod with that end nut on the slave. I may make a longer end nut to make up the rest of the ground. FSM stipulates about 3-4mm of end play.
