my turbo works, that i know. what i don't know is if it is normal to have oil in it on the intake side (the actual intake manifold is relatively clear of oil). Is this indicative of a blown seal in the turbo and if so will it deteriorate further and fast? My concern is in PM. I'd rather not...
It's just reaching 200000km.
thanks for all the feedback guys. any further yays or nays, etc appreciated.
you guys agree that it may be just some blow-by?
just to clarify. hardly any oil in the intake, there's oil in the intake side of the turbo.
Hey Guys,
Just finished looking over the hdj81 with my mechanic friend. I had noticed oil on the intake side hose of the turbo and wanted his opinion. took off the manifold and there was oil in there, but not much play in the shaft. Both the manuals I have just state that the turbo should...
i love my cruiser but i don't think i'd bother with a rhd if i lived in a city. i live in a town of 3000 so left turns aren't an issue but i just don't think having a diesel out weighs practicality. also, yes you can get any parts but i've been waiting since early december to get my cruiser...
never done this but why don't you leave a screw in to hold on to, cut around it and then weld some new metal in. don't know if this would work since i've never welded:) burn headliner?
funny you should post this. same bumper with the wings and i smoked a deer at 70mph 2 days ago. ruined bumper, lights, hood, fender, skid plate but i managed to drive it home. the "wing" got pushed back and rubs on my tire when i turn sharp. i guess it could have been worse. nice bumper
His name is Johan. He was staying a block away at a buddy's place here in Fernie for over a week. Meant to get some photos for you guys but... Nice guy and ready to talk cruisers. He bought the cruiser ('86) in the Yukon a few years back with 180000km now about 300000km. It's originally from...
would it be worht it with how much snow we get in victoria?., i guess more traction is always better.
- more traction. longer life. Insurance not going through the roof. sounds like a no brainer. I've got winter tires on my 81 (we just got 71cm of snow in 48hrs) and they rock. I can...
i'm on my second hdj81. love the truck and the only way i'll get rid of it is for another one. jdm's are really common here in BC and i've seen some suspect "low mileage" units. unless you have some way of verifying the mileage i'd stay away from anything with under 100000km, but that's just...
here you go:
http://www.ateb.ca/parts.php
$450 for the set.
You may also have to change your tires, add day-time running lights, reflectors, etc... Check http://www.ivoac.ca/pn/index.php for getting your cruiser fully compliant.
have fun!
