Well I thought I'd stop by and say hi
couple of years back I sold my trusty hdj81 and bought a Duramax truck
well just bought an 07 fj manual
guys at work already call it a Tonka or Lego brick...
Anyway build date is 1 06 I think so I'm aware of the rear diff issues, not too sure how...
Toyota Pub no: RM515U. Manual came with my HDJ81 but have since sold the truck. Don't know what to ask so offers I guess.
Also have Toyota Pub No RM172E, 1PZ, 1HZ, 1HD-T Engine repair manual.
mostly pretty flat around here.
the 81 is rated at 7700# though.
I'd thought about the adding a temp gauge but once I add that then it would be a pressure gauge and where do I stop?
Tow vehicle is a 1990 HDJ81 with 1hd-t, auto, trans cooler, trans temp gauge, stock water temp gauge on dash, boost gauge and pyro. 2.5" exhaust ported out the side with no bends or restrictions.
Trailer is a 28' Airstream GVWR 7600#
Normal driving at 100kph, boost 9-10, pyro 550-650, trans...
most weekends and in October for a week this year. Next year even more, especially in hillier terrain.
Really not too sure what to think. I'm kinda leaning towards giving the wife the 81 or selling it and buying a 3/4 diesel...Then again there's always PI.
Bought from Luxury Imports Feb '06 but now need to sell because I need a 3/4 diesel.
2.5" OME lift
BEB done
3 locking diffs
new batteries
Safari snorkel
auto
4.2l 1hd-t diesel
rebuilt winch
195000km
pyro, boost and trans temp gauges installed
PIAA offroad hi/lo lights
full...
well finally got around to installing the gauges, here are pix.
Boost is 0-15 VDO, Pyro Autometer, Trans Temp Autometer mechanical.
Yes Wayne, too good of a truck to sell.
Off topic, had this truck almost 1.5 years now, bought from Wayne at Luxury Imports. Been a great truck. Only repairs...
These trailers were made for the British Army, similar to the m101 only they are 3/4t as opposed to 1/4t.
This thing is BUILT, the springs have I believe 8 or 9 leafs in each, sway bars and shocks. It has the NATO swivelling pintle hook so you have 360 axis.
You wont find a more substantial...
thanks everyone, gonna install a VDO 0-15psi boost and Autometer mechanical trans temp gauge along with my pyro in a 3 hole DIN sized plate just below the radio on my truck. Has a double DIN opening and right now the lower is just a storage tray so the DIN sized panel should look good.
thanks for the info.
what range? is 0-15psi enough?
I have a pyro already.
going to install a tranny temp gauge also, probably the Autometer mechanical. Thoughts?
Looking to put a boost gauge on my HDJ81 1HD-T, I see a lot of boost/vacuum gauges out there, is this what I need? Also what range ie 0-?psi should I be looking at. Leaning towards a VDO 0-15psi.
hey Wayne, nice. I've backed through a couple of drive throughs myself. What's also nice is the retractable mirrors, that flips them out too...
maybe I should trade up...hmmm
